“I hope they take good care of Goo. I kinda wish I had thought of a better name than that” said Ikari as she left the pokemon center. Jolt shrugged her shoulders and snuggled back into Ikari’s jacket. “Hey! We have a battle this morning! We can sleep after we fly to Snowpoint City” said Ikari poking Jolt in the head making her squeak. “I can’t believe I said fly there” Ikari whispered to herself while shuddering at the same time. Ikari arrived at the gym by 10 and walked in. “Hello!! Anyone here?” called Ikari as she stepped out onto the field. “You a challenger?” asked a guy getting up from the stands. Ikari jumped at hearing the guys’ voice, she hadn’t noticed him there. “Um… y… yeah” replied Ikari stuttering a bit. “I’m Byron, the gym leader” said the guy walking out onto the field. “………Oh!!! I’m Ikari” Ikari replied getting distracted. “What’s the matter kid, you have ADHD or something!?! Pay attention!” yelled Byron. It took Ikari a couple more moments to snap back into reality and take her place on the other side of the field. “Okay, I’ll start with Bronzor!” called Byron throwing his pokeball out onto the field. “Paytah your up!” called Ikari letting her Vulpix out of his pokeball. Paytah stretched before taking his battle stance. “Bronzor use gryo ball!” commanded Byron. “Umm… Oh yeah! Paytah dodge and use will-o-wisp on Bronzor!” said Ikari trying to pay attention. Paytah dodged to the left and then charged in with little purple flames floating all around his body. Paytah slammed into Bronzor, ensuring that it would be burned. “Great job Paytah!” yelled Ikari finally focusing on the battle. “Vulpix!” said Paytah happily jumping out of the way of another gyro ball. “Okay, flamethrower full blast!” said Ikari taking advantage of the situation. “Bronzor counter with psychic!” commanded Byron. The two attacks zeroed out each other and caused an explosion on the field. “Paytah you still with us?” asked Ikari. “Vulpix!!” responded Paytah. Bronzor had taken the brunt of the explosion and was very weak. “Okay Paytah! Let’s finish this one up with a quick attack!” commanded Ikari. Paytah sped in and knocked out Bronzor quickly. “That was perfect Paytah!!” called Ikari jumping up and down. “This kid has got to have ADHD or something” mumbled Byron to himself. Byron sent out Steelix as his next pokemon. “This is perfect Paytah!” called Ikari getting a little too confident. (The traumatization gained from flying combined with the ADHD kicking in has probably resulted in this……) “Don’t get cocky kid!” said Byron. “Paytah use fire spin!” said Ikari. “Steelix put that kid in its place! Use sandstorm!” said Byron angrily. Steelix’s sandstorm not only put out fire spin like it was a wet match but it also decimated, in a way, Paytah knocking him into the back wall. “PAYTAH!” yelled Ikari running over to her Vulpix. Paytah was completely unconscious from the attack and Ikari couldn’t tell if he was seriously hurt or not. “That’s what you get when you get cocky and don’t consider the odds for your pokemon! You need to realize that your Vulpix was tired and had no chance of lasting a second round. Grow up and start taking responsibility for your pokemon and their limitations!” yelled Byron as he ranted on Ikari. Ikari felt horrible and also very angry. “He probably did that on purpose. If I was pushing Paytah too hard he should have said it, not do that!” thought Ikari to herself. “CHIGARU! Your up!” yelled Ikari pissed that the gym leader is talking about her limitations as if he knew her all his life. “What the hell does he know!” thought Ikari angrily. “Pichuuu…” said Jolt knowing full well what happens when Ikari’s temper shows. (Now a semi-insane, ADHD, pissed-off 9 year old is an interesting thing. However the circumstances are not…… especially since no-one in Ikari’s family has figured out she has ADHD yet……) “Once was not enough I see” said Byron. (Ikari is usually very respectful of all people who are older than her but need I remind you again that the whole reason for this journey of hers is to prove to everyone that they can’t just put limitations on someone or something just because of how they are.) “SHUT UP!!” yelled Ikari with a look on her face that startled even Jolt. “Chigaru use smog!” commanded Ikari. “Clear that away with sandstorm Steelix!” said Byron. Before Steelix could move Chigaru came bursting through the smog attack and charged straight for Steelix. “Hah! You can’t even control your pokemon you little brat” Byron said to himself. “Okay Chigaru, use flame blitz!” yelled Ikari. Chigaru was engulfed in flames and slammed hard into Steelix’s side. Steelix was knocked to the ground and was soon engulfed in Chigaru’s flamethrower. “Okay Chigaru” said Ikari she saw that Steelix was knocked out. “…… Bastiodon” said Byron throwing his last pokeball out onto the field. “Okay Chigaru, return” said Ikari. Ikari pulled out another pokeball from her side pouch on her belt. “Your turn Kayu!” Ikari said tossing his pokeball up in the air. It didn’t take Kayu long to finish off Bastiodon. With that Ikari earned her sixth badge.
