The next day Ikari got up early. “Happy Birthday to me!” Ikari said to herself. She and Naoko shared a pokemon center room that night since they were packed. “What about birthday?” asked Naoko getting up from her bed on the other side of the room. “Today’s my birthday, I’m now 9 years old” said Ikari very proudly. Jolt tackled Ikari from behind and rubbed her cheek against Ikari’s. The entire day was spent celebrating Ikari’s birthday. The celebration mostly consisted of Ikari and Jolt having a milkshake drinking contest. First one to drop to the ground with a brain freeze loses. It ended in a tie. “I honestly have never seen a kid consume so much chocolate milkshake in my entire life!” said Naoko watching Jolt and Ikari go at it. Both she and Silverstar watched the whole event while eating ice-cream. Naoko was trying to figure out how those two could burn off all those calories from the 43 milkshakes so quickly. After twitching on the ground for a good hour both Ikari and Jolt finally got feeling back in their bodies and were able to get back up. “Both you and your pokemon have got to be the weirdest things I have ever seen in my life! And I have seen some pretty weird things” said Naoko. Naoko has decided to stay long enough to help Ikari train for her 5th gym battle and stay to watch it. “Hey Naoko. How come Eevee has a different color coat than what it shows in my pokedex” said Ikari showing Naoko the picture. Ikari found out that her Eevee is a shiny pokemon, which as anyone could figure are very rare. “So, what are you going to name it?” asked Naoko. “Don’t know yet” Ikari replied. Ikari followed Naoko to the outskirts of the city to where they were going to train. “I think I might have a name for Eevee” said Ikari putting her bag down at the training site. “I’m listening” replied Naoko. “How does Somatra sound?” asked Ikari. “Where do you come up with this stuff” Naoko replied. Ikari smiled and let out her newly named Eevee. Somatra sparkled when she appeared. “This is going to be great!” said Ikari. Naoko let out her Sneasel, Tsurara. “Cool a Sneasel!” said Ikari. “Where’d you capture that pokemon?” asked Ikari. “Well after you get your 6th badge in Canalave City, you need to head north to Snowpoint City. You can find them along the routes there, but they are very powerful and are difficult to capture” said Naoko. With that all said and done they began their training. Ikari decided that Somatra, Kayu, and Paytah needed the training the most. Paytah went up against Tsurara first. Ikari had Paytah practice her flamethrower and a new attack she had taught her called hidden power. “Great job with flamethrower Paytah!” called Ikari. “Now try hidden power!” she added. Glowing purple colored orbs appeared around Paytah. Suddenly they shot off in all directions in a wild discharge. Ikari ducked and dodged the wild attack. “Paytah!” yelled Ikari. “Vullpiix” responded Paytah. “I guess you’re not ready to use that attack yet” said Ikari petting Paytah on the head as reassurance. “Okay Kayu, you’re up next” said Ikari. “Let try your hydro pump” she added. Kayu shot several cannons of water off in rapid succession before Naoko said that was good. “Okay let’s try your skull bash on that rock” said Ikari pointing at a boulder off to the side. Kayu smashed into the rock and shattered it into tiny pieces. “Great job!” called Ikari. “Your pokemon seem to be in great shape for battling. But you really need to work with Paytah” said Naoko. Ikari then trained a long time with Somatra before they all took a lunch break. “So these are all your pokemon” said Naoko. “Well… I do have one other with me but…” said Ikari debating whether to show her or not. “Come on I can keep a secret” said Naoko getting up. “Okay” said Ikari happily. Ikari took the pokeball off the necklace around her neck and threw it up in the air. Okami came out and gently landed in front of Ikari. Okami was about two and one-half the size of Ikari. Naoko fell backwards at the site of the legendary pokemon. “What’s the matter?” asked Ikari. “That’s a Lugia!! How did you capture one of those?!?” said Naoko. “Um, well I helped it out and she wanted to tag along with me” said Ikari. “Legendary pokemon just don’t randomly join trainers, especially a rookie like you!! There has to be some other reason for it to want to stay with you” said Naoko getting up. “Can she carry you?” asked Naoko. Ikari told Naoko about her fear of flying and of heights. “Well your going to have to get over it if you want to get your other badges in time for the deadline” said Naoko.
