My Book
I've been writing in this since I was thirteen in 2007. I still am writing in it, and it will probably be my legacy till the day I die. (Don't start reading from the beginning as my writing was atrocious then.)
Making of "The Zoo (2019)"

------This is based of my first "Memory" entry on this book which you can read here: CLICK ME. I wanted to do something lighter this time because Postscript was very sad and dark in a way. I didn't have time to write an original script because I also had to do video instead of still image. Whilst I've shot videos before, I never actually done so with the intent to make a film. Most videos I have on my youtube channel is just me jangling away at my guitar featuring other musicians sometimes. Most if not all of it are stationary shots too, so this was very new to me. Well not new exactly, once in my life I thought of starting a vlog with Anya and James, but that never got anywhere. I've shot videos for fun too when I'm in concerts with friends and they're usually just posted on my IG story. Not sure if i'd actually call those shooting real videos though cause of IG's time limit. But most of those are shaky and low quality at best. Speaking of IG follow me @rayksajorda

------So I went to the zoo by myself. I asked Simon, Sierra and, Kristen if they wanted to come. They were all busy sadly. Sierra was nice enough to text me through the experience. For a while I couldn't find the flamingos and my feet started to hurt. I had to Google if there were flamingos in the bronx zoo, or if it was just my all in my head. Google told me to go into the "Aquatic Birds" area and, I found them eventually after walking in circles. I did not particularly enjoyed the zoo, especially on my own. So after I got my footage of flamingos and other animals, I left immediately. I have to give thanks to my dad for lending me his Sony SLT-A77V camera. Super expensive camera on the hands of an amateur. I plan to just get an iphone gimbal next time and record with my phone because the warp stabilizer in premiere didn't give me the results I wanted sometimes.

------So another thing I did here that I didn't do much in Postscript is Sound Design. I also did foley which is super fun! The sounds of the eagle eating is actually me slapping my lips together. The pelicans beak sounds were made with me hitting two drum sticks against each other. I chose the Beyerdynamic m160, which is a ribbon mic but is also cardioid. I chose the ribbon because ribbons usually give you that natural sound. Now that I think about it, I think an Earthworks QTC40 may have done a better job which I have access to at the time of this writing. I did most of the footsteps foley too. I was slapping my shoes on a pelican case to get the sounds of concrete because the studio I was working in has wooden floors, which I also used as well. Voice over was done with a Sennheiser 416 shotgun mic through Forssell preamps. Music I did was super minimal because of the sound design.

------My next film will probably be a love story. So thanks for reading and watching! Anikacy out.
