The Weekly Rant LXXVII -Early Christmas enthusiasm
(for giggles, this whole rant will be in rhyme, to better emphasize the holiday time)
I have nothing against christmas or the whole christmas season,
why is really quite simple in reason.
The children are happy, the morons are drunk,
it doesn't matter how much the holiday's sunk,
people laugh, and sing and dance and cheer,
something I'll put up with at this time of year.
The thing I don't like, though it's been overlooked,
is folks hanging up lights before the turkey's been cooked.
You know what I mean, folks skipping thanksgiving,
too eager to be on with the season of giving,
they forget the pilgrims, indians, and all,
so they can drink egg nog while decking the hall.
Why don't they care about the colonies and corn?
doesn't it get to toot it's holiday horn?
Why don't people care about stuffing their face?
is this a tradition we should simply erase?
I suppose it makes sense, throwing this one away,
it's just gorging and relatives and puking the next day.
Let people go crazy for their precious december,
but I'll be one who'll always remember,
the days when we'd eat, and be content with that bird,
no matter how many early carols were heard.
BOTTOM LINE:
My rant's almost over, but I have this to say,
at least it's christmas they cherish, not halloween anyway.
I have one last thing to add, though it may not seem right,
merry Christmas, you bastards, I'm Varmeip, Goodnight.
