The Weekly Rant XIII pt.2 -Rap and meaningless "music"
As stated in pt.1, rap is the worst excuse for music I have ever seen. I will now explain why.
I hate rap for a number of reasons, first of all, it's basicly about (most of it these days, anyway) "gangsters" (I'll do a rant about them later... yup, another cliff hanger rant.) hurting people and rapeing/beating women. And yet, somehow, people like it! WTF!? I've figured out why I hate it so much, (some of you may have figured it out already) it's the lyrics. Not becuase of what they're saying, so much as it doesn't mean anything. Example: In one metal (I think it's metal) song I know of, the singer continually states that he's gone numb from a smothering, overcontrolling, parental figure trying to make him something he's not. (we all know the typical "I don't care what your dreams are, you'll succeed in the thing I failed miserably in and I'LL feel better" type of parent, like mothers that encourage beauty pagents?) He even says "tired of being what you want me to be" at one point.
Basicly, his parent is overcontrolling, and he's saying he won't be what the parent wants him to be. In rap, I have seen a FEW songs that were actually pretty catchy, but all of them had a meaning, a message in thier lyrics... all of which (I think) were by Carlos Mencia. (Dee Dee Dee song, hilarious.) It's really pretty simple, meaning= (usually) a decent song. By the way, country music, STOP DRIFTING TOWARDS RAP. I've heard the songs blaring in my sisters room, (read the previous rant, she'll be deaf WITHOUT ipods) They're nearly all about some bad relationship, sex, or something just plain stupid. (and yes, I may do a rant about country)
BOTTOM LINE: Music without any real meaning or message in it's lyrics sucks 9 times out of 10. Music "artists", you sons of bitches know who you are...
