Chapter 5, Revelation of Duties


"Holy crap, this is where you live?" Becky exclaimed. They had arrived at the gates of Jacob's house, or to be more precise, his mansion.

"Well....kinda." He said, shuffling his feat.

"This place is huge" Aisha said, her eyes widening the more she looked.

"Come on, lets go in." Jacob said, trying to get past the fact of where he lived. He pushed the gates open, and walked up the the path to the house, Becky, Kelly and Aisha following behind. The group finally got to the giant mahogany doors, which Jacob pushed open.

"WELCOME, MASTER JACOB!!!" Came the chorus of voices. Two lines, maids on one side, butlers on the other, stood in the entrence hallway, greeting the group.

"Damn. Forgot to use the side door today." Jacob grumbled, "Back to your posts." The maids and butlers began scurring, going through the many doors, to do there various dutys.

"How rich is your family?!?!" Kelly shouted, staring at Jacob with disbeliefe.

"Too rich. Still, it takes a lot of people to keep this place running. I try to avoid them when I can. Still, there is one guy I like. Squabbles!" Jacob shouted.

A door slammed open, and a man, about seventy, walked through. He was wearing a butler outfit. He had a large grey mustach, and grey, thinning hair. He also had a monacle.

"You called, Jacob?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, can we get something to drink please?" He asked kindly.

"But of course. What would you like, sir and madams?" He asked, his rich voice carrying.

"I'm set." Kelly said, shaking her drink.

"Me too" Aisha said.

"Hot chocolate." Becky said, as if none of this fazed her.

"And some ice tea, for me please." Jacob said.

"At once, sir. Where shall I bring it?" Squabbles asked.

"Up to my room, please. And thanks." Jacob said.

"It is my duty, and pleasure, sir." Squabbles said, bowing to Jacob and the girls in turn.

"Come on, this way." He said, walking up a marble stairway, through a thick door. He went down a hallway, and then up another staircase. He stopped at the door to his room, and opened it. Aisha's mouth dropped.


"B...Big t.v." she said stairing at the Big Screen t.v. in his room.

"And game systems to boot!" Kelly exclaimed, looking at the Gamecube, Xbox 360 and PS2.

"Well, I like it." Jacob said, shruggin his shoulders.

"Its awsome!" Aisha exclaimed, "Can we...." She said, motioning to the t.v.

"Knock youself out. Damn. Forgot to turn of the sign in the recording studio..." He said, turning his head to another door in his room, with a red light over the door top.

"You have a recording studio." Becky asked, dumbfounded.

"Well, Its just a room, really. I like to play music in there sometimes, and sing." He said, blushing a little. He didn't really like to let everyone know he sung a lot, "You can use it if you like."

Without answering, Becky wen't right through the door, and into the studio.

The hours went by, Squabbles occasion returning to give them drinks and snacks. Finally, the front door slammed, and the words "WELCOME, MASTER SHIZU!" We're heard throught the house.

"Finally!" Jacob shouted, jumping up and exiting the room, Kelly, Aisha and Becky in his wake. He bolted down the stairs and hopped over a rail, finnally entereing the main hall.

"Ah, Jacob, your already home. And who are these people?" Shizu asked kindly, looking at the girls.

"Grandpa. These are the other Guardians." Jacob said, motioning to Kelly, Aisha and Becky.

"Ah, nice to meet yo- THE OTHER WHAT?!?" Shizu excliamed.

Jacob explained what had happened at school, and about Kelly's, Aisha's and Becky's spirits.

"And so we've been waiting for you to get home. And here we are." Jacob said, unsure of whatelse to say.

Kelly, who had been looking at some pictures on a table in the hall, suddenly pipped up.

"Uh, Shizu sir, who is this?" She asked uncertainly, pointing to a picture. It was a picture of Shizu, Hair still black, with his arm around a younger man, with blonde hair. Both we're laughing into the camera, there faces full of joy.

"That is one of my old students Isamo. Unfortunetly, I believe he has passed away." Shizu said wistfully.

"Well. Thats my father." She said.

"Impossible! Unless....are you Kelly Hiet?" He asked quickly. Kelly nodded.

Shizu smilied warmly at her. "I remember, almost fifteen years ago, Isamo bursting into the house, running around screaming "Its a girl, its a girl!". And then he tripped on the carpet."

Everyone laughed, but soon, the laughter died down. Shizu sighed.

"Well, I guess it was inevitable. At least you've found them quickly." Shizu said.

"Why, what's wrong Grandpa?" Jacob asked, confused.

"Well, think. You don't believe you have those powers just for fun do you? Your going to have to fight, eventually." Shizu told them.

"But fight what?" Aisha asked.

"I do not know. Evil takes many forms." Shizu said grimly.

"Evil? Please. Thats being dramatic." Becky said with a roll of her eyes.

"I take it your the Fire Guardian." Shizu asked critically.

"And what if I am?"

"Hm. Brash. Fiery. Guess you'll do." Shizu said, turning away.

Jacob, Kelly and Aisha had to restrain Becky as she lunged forward.

"Let me go!" She growled in a whisper, "I'll show him who'll do"

"You'll face challanges" Shizu said gently, looking at the picture of Isamo and hisself.

"Like what?" Aisha asked again.

"You'll see."

Eventually, it was time for the girls to leave. Jacob made the trek back up to his room, with thoughts of challanges, evil and fighting in his mind.

"Guess I'll just have to wait." He sighed.




All right! Well, this took much longer then I thought, I just got stuck at a ton of hardpoints, plus theres been football and school....READ AND ENJOY!
