Chapter 15, Static Shock
Chapter 15, Static Shock

Becky woke up next day with her hair on end. Literally. It was standing straight up, and no matter how hard she tried to press it back down, it wouldn’t stay. She tried combing it, straightening it and everything else. Nothing.

“I think I’ll just chop it all off.” She said viciously.

After an hour or so, she was able to finally get it to lay down, almost missing her bus. She got to school in a bad mood, but it was soon going to pick up.

“What’s wrong Big Puppy?” Aisha asked, sitting down next to Becky as the long haired girl plopped her bag and herself down on the floor. Kelly stood beside both of them, her iPod on as she rocked gently to the beat.

Becky said nothing, but growled deeply.

Soon, Jacob arrived, smiling broadly.

“Well if it isn’t Mr. Sunshine himself.” Becky growled.

“Oh, come on Becky. What’s wrong? Puppy lose her tail or something?” Jake asked. Becky said nothing.

“She’s been like that since she got here.” Kelly said with a shrug.

“All right Becky. Come on now.” Jacob said with a smile, patting the girls shoulder. What happened next, was a shocking event.

There was a flash of light the second Jake touched Becky, and he was flown backwards across the deserted hall. There was a short bolt of lightening from her shoulder that made contact with the boy when he had touched her.

“Jesus, Mary and Joseph what was that?” Jacob roared, pulling himself from the wall he had been slammed in to. He brushed a large chunk of wall from his shoulder, and looked back at the wall. With a grunt, he raised his palm slowly and the stones flew back into place.

Aisha and Kelly couldn’t breathe, they were laughing so hard.

Becky just sat there, almost dumbfounded.

“Lightening.” She murmured.

“What?” Kelly asked, breathing shallowly as she recovered.

“Lightening. Fire is an offshoot of lightening. Like Ice is of Water, or Metal is of Earth. My secondary power is lightening.” She said, staring at the others. She held up her pointer finger, and stared at it. In a second, a small flame appeared on it. She held up her other finger, and a small ball of lightening appeared on it, sending out small sparks. In deep interest, she slowly put both of her fingertips together, merging fire and lightening.

The two elements merged perfectly together, forming a bright golden light. It pulsed gently, sending out more waves of the light. Finally, the light died away as Becky pulled her fingers apart, the elements disappearing.

“Well that was interesting.” Jacob said, walking back over to the now-standing Becky. “I think you dislocated my shoulder...”

“Oh rub some dirt in it and suck it up.” Becky said, grabbing her bag and heading to class.

Kelly and Aisha were laughing again.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Class was the usual affair. With the exception of Becky shocking most of the people who agitated her. Somehow, Jacob got the brunt of it. Jacob grew silent for most of the day, out of fear of being shocked, and Becky became happier.
As the final bell rang, Jacob was the first out of the door in order to avoid Becky, and her potential shock. Becky walked with Aisha and Kelly in tow, the two of them chatting about what the weekend would hold for their group.
Then Becky spotted Sean, leaning up against a locker by himself. His eyes were following Becky intently, his face expressionless. Becky stopped, locking eyes with the orange-haired boy. Kelly and Aisha got in front of Becky, but stopped and turned around questioningly.
“Its ok. Go ahead. I’ll catch up.” She murmured.
The hallways cleared, leaving the two alone together.
“What do you want?” Becky asked.
Sean leaned forward off the locker, and walked over to the girl. He stopped halfway, eying her coldly.
“Your powers.”
“Wait. What?” Becky asked, suprised by his answer. He didn’t respond.
“But you already have my powers.” She said, utterly confused for once.
“No I do not!” Sean suddenly roared, punching a locker. Fire burst from his fist, almost melting the metal.
“I am a Destroyer. We do not have the same powers as the Guardians.” He hissed. “We are but shells of you, mere copies. We do not posses the full potential to evolve as you do, gaining more power as we try. I will never have the ability to control lightening. Itamo will never control Metal. Kagune will never control Ice. Unless we defeat you and take your powers.”
“Is that what this is about?” Becky asked incrediously. “Is that why you fight us all so much?”
Once again, Sean remained silent.
“Fine. If you want my powers, come and take them!” Becky shouted.
She took a stance, balls of flame appearing in her closed fists. Sean took a similar pose, but now his metal gauntlets were on his hands, the fire roaring as his hands grew brighter and brighter.
In a flash they were upon each other, punching and blocking. Becky swung her leg at Sean’s side, and he blocked it with his forearm. Each was a flurry of movement as they tried to hurt the other, landing punches and kicks.
Then they were face to face, their hands grasping each others as they tried to break the others hand.
“You can’t beat me Becky.” Sean said, tightening his grip.
“We’ll see Pretty Boy.” She growled.
She pushed off him, flying backwards as she pulled out her gun. Sean was twirling his halberd, the metal shining off of the lights. Becky sprinted sideways, firing off a few rounds at the flame haired boy. The bullets glanced off the halberd, but jarred Sean’s hands slightly.
I need to end this now! Becky thought fiercely, as she fired off more shots at the boy. With a grunt, she flipped backwards and holstered her gun.
She took a stance, her hands chest high as she summoned her energy for a final strike. Sean’s eyes widened as he saw her, and he too dispersed of his weapon.
In a flash, he had a large ball of flame in his hands, and he was sprinting at Becky whose hands were crackling with electricity.
Sean got closer, a trail of flame like a comets tail following behind him as he summoned up all the energy he could. When he got within range, he threw the fireball at Becky.
Becky drew away, then flung the sphere of lightening forward. It flew threw the air much faster then the fireball, and completely destroyed the oncoming attack, and kept on going.
Sean’s eyes went wider as the attack flew at him. He flung up his hands in defense, but the attack slammed him head on, exploding upon contact.
The young boy was flung backwards, slammed into a wall of lockers. When the smoke from the attack cleared, he was unconscious.
Becky gasped for breath. The attack had taken more out of her then she’d thought. She looked at her hands that were still sparking with electricity, and smiled. She had held her own in a battle, and had even won. She made a fist, and the electricity went away.
Grabbing her bag, she exited the hallways quickly, not wanting to be spotted by a teacher. That was the last thing she needed at the moment.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“So what took you?” Kelly asked in Jacob’s room, as the group sat around. Squabbles had brought them food upon Becky’s return, and she was currently busy wolfing down a sandwich.

“Sean.” She said simply through a mouthful of ham and turkey.

“Attractive.” Jacob said, watching her devour her snack. Becky glared at him and sent him a shock, making him yelp.

Becky told them the whole story, drawing interest from the rest of the group.

“Then I hit him with a ball of electricity.” She said simply, reaching for another sandwich.

“Well good for you!” Aisha said, nibbling on her own sandwich with a smile.

“We still have to find out what your new power will be Tree.” Kelly said with an expectant look.

“All in good time. You can’t rush perfection.” She said with a devious smile.

“Always the modest one, eh Aisha?” Jacob said with a laugh, as the others joined in too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well~ I kind of wanted to rush this chapter, but as I continued writing, I really grew to like it!
This chapter really centered around Becky, who we get to find out a tad bit more about. She unlocked a new power, and has already mastered it with no trouble!
We also found out a lot more about the Destroyers and Guardians, and why the Destroyers are attacking them. Sean's a little moody, eh?
Well, 3 Guardian's have their powers, only 1 left to go! Aisha's chapter will be next, and you'll discover her new power!
Hope you liked this one!
Oh yeah, Becky, if I did your character wrong.....
DON'T KILL ME!
