• System 11:11

Somewhere in the half-rebuilt ruins of Valtagia sat a cyborg. It wasn’t one of the Draegus; it couldn’t hear the minds of the other people around him. He still believed himself to be a Draegus, though. He didn’t know it, but he had an unusual serial code on the back of his head. It read ‘5|_|P3R||0V4.’ He had memories that lasted about five months or so but he knew who he was. His name was James P. Suedo. He didn’t know what the P stood for but he knew he was great at rallying people to his cause and using them to fight. In fact, he just so happened to be famous for it. He was a regular star.

He looked to the sky and jumped. Somehow he kept going right up into the higher reaches of the atmosphere. He looked down at the city moving farther and farther away from him and began muttering to himself. “There’s a system to the system. I don’t fit in the system. Go, yeah go, but don’t expect me to miss you. Trying to find a hole in the bottom of the soul-less.” He thought about the world from the edge of it. “You can’t control this.” He spoke defiantly to the planet. A small patrol ship carrying only one Draegus approached the free-floating cyborg. “Now what the ******** are you, some kind of half-assed astronaut?” He began to float toward the now stopped ship.

“Now just a moment, please. I must insist that you stop.” The cyborg continued to float toward the ship. “Just a moment, please! I must insist that you-” The cyborg punched in through the side of the ship and ripped the Draegus’s head off. Somehow the cyborg had the feeling that he should revolt against the Draegus almost as if he had been told.

    Tonight the Stars Revolt!

Turning the ship towards the city, the cyborg James put the ship into top speed. The ship turned bright red as the friction of the air rubbed against it. James’s eyes were wide and filled with craze. The ship crashed into a tall building that had just finished being rebuilt. James floated above the collapsing building. Out of his feet were jets of flame keeping him suspended in the air. He landed in the middle of a street and Draegus surrounded him. Three more ships crashed into nearby buildings as three famous movie stars landed next to James. “Hang on to tomorrow because tonight the stars… REVOLT!” Ships began to crash down all around the city as famous media personas from around the country began the attack on Valtagia.

James stood on the burning wreckage of a ship that had missed a building as more cyborg celebrities surrounded him and looked up to him. Dawn Sims and Frank Dannar, the most famous news reporters in Galadaer, climbed up next to him as one of the cyborg turned a camera at James. James spoke out to the television crowd: every single fan of anyone remotely famous. “Do you believe in what we do? And will you learn to scream… LIKE ME!” The cyborg surrounding him cheered and yelled. “LET’S GO!”

He turned toward the approaching Draegus as the cyborg closest to the Draegus leaped forward and decapitated several of the sentries. The Draegus quickly had the superior numbers and began to advance on the rebelling cyborgs. One of the lesser celebrities jumped over the front lines of the Draegus and landed in the middle of the force. His chest expanded then he exploded, taking half the Draegus with him. Another lesser celebrity, a woman this time, did the same. Now the cyborgs outnumbered the Draegus. “There’s nothing to it…”

James turned to an interruption in an alley nearby. A ship unlike any of those belonging to the Draegus cloaked after it deposited a man under green clothes and a cone hat and a young boy with wide eyes. “What’s going on?” Wide-eyes turned to Conehat. Conehat muttered something but all James could pick up was “…when stars revolt. They‘re only doing what their told.” They quickly ran back to the cloaked ship and took off.

James ignored the ship and turned back to a Draegus holding a white flag. James spread the word that the Draegus was allowed to speak to him. When the Draegus arrived James hushed the questions it had. The cyborg spoke in a calm yet crazed voice. “What’s the mystery? The lights of Death and Fame…” He quickly tore off the head of the Draegus and held it up. “SHINE ON!” He turned to the rest of the Draegus then to the still-recording camera. “Invaders from inside will easily replace…” He threw the head at the Draegus. “YOU NOW!” There’s nothing to it…

James turned back to the camera and spoke to his human audience. “Hang on to tomorrow… Because tonight, the stars… Target Gaia for me… Because tonight, the stars… Sing your favorite song… Because tonight, the stars… Show the way to die… Because tonight… The stars… REVOLT!” The camera quit its broadcast and James turned to the ensuing destruction with the same crazed look. Conehat had said it precisely. They’re only doing what they’re told… He chuckled.
