• Prologue

    “I can’t believe it!”, I shouted, “Why would he do this to me?”

    “I don’t know dear, I guess he just doesn’t love you like he used to.”, Rian’s mother stated matter-of-factly.

    I looked through the cracked door again to make sure I wasn’t going insane, but there she was and there he was. She was sitting on his bed, she was getting closer to him… and closer…and closer.


    “Damn you!”, I sat up in my bed. I couldn’t handle much more of this. It’s been almost a year, but I just can’t stop dreaming or even thinking about that night I caught him cheating on me. Damn Rian.
    I went to my closet and grabbed my casual forest green dress that swept the floor when I walked (my mother never bought me anything but dresses) and slipped it on so I could go for a walk outside. I left the pins in my hair, I knew I wouldn’t be out for long.

    I shut my door quietly and ran down the winding marble stair case so I could grab my black flats and head out the door.

    Once I was out, I headed straight for the fountain, it was my favorite place to be in the entire kingdom. I knelt at the edge and splashed the cool water over my face, then sighed deeply as I stared into the dark reflective water.

    Suddenly there was another face behind me and I tried to quickly stand and turn around to see who it was, just to loose my balance and fall backwards into the fountain. My head hit the bottom hard. The rush of water and pain in my head forced my eyes shut and I could feel myself drifting on the edge of consciousness…
