• “What do you want?” I asked grumpily.
“Can I come in?” he asked. And for some reason I agreed. “You look very nice, by the way.” Sam said. He looked real nervous about something.
“Just spit it out.” I told him, getting a little jumpy myself.
“You need to tell me who you are, sandy. My family seems to be bent on killing you now. And I would like to know who you are to them, since they won’t tell me…” Sam said very quickly. How should I answer that? Tell him your real name, Sandy Bollingarud. A voice whispered. But… I couldn’t find a reason not to…
“Sandy Bollingarud.” I replied. His eyes bugged out.
“You’re a Bollingarud?! You’re not safe! Get out of town, now!” he exclaimed, as soon as he snapped out of shock anyway.
“I can’t. I’m supposed to be here. Anyway, I’ve got a commitment I’ve got to honor.” I protested. He got up and shook me. I ignored the electricity that went through my body at his touch.
“You have to leave. You don’t know how powerful my family is. I don’t want you to get hurt.” Sam said.
“Why are you warning me? Aren’t we supposed to hate each other or something?” I asked. I jerked out of his grip.
“I’m not exactly sure…” he replied, puzzled.
“What do you mean?” I asked, puzzled now as well.
“I felt compelled to come here. While I walked here it didn’t even feel like I was moving, more like someone had taken control of my limbs…” Sam trailed off. “Wait, are you Alania?” he asked.
“James?” Alania had taken control of my body. And apparently James had taken Sam’s.
“My dear! I’ve found you at last!” Sam came towards me and I jerked free of Alania’s grip. Not before I could tell Sam to snap out of it, though. James was kissing me before I could say anything against it. For a moment I was unable to do anything but then I jerked free.
“Sam, break free!” just the use of his name seemed to do it.
“What was that about?” Sam mused aloud.
“Don’t ask me! You know as much as I do.” I replied, annoyed.
“I should probably leave now… Hehehe… I’m going to do some research on Alania Bollingarud and James Robicheaux. I’ll keep in touch.” Sam said quietly, half to himself and he walked out. When he was gone Alania decided to rant.
Why did you interfere?! She screeched.
You cannot do that! It’s my body! I never asked for you to be here! I retorted.
I didn’t do anything! It was your own body reacting to Sam’s. She argued.
No it wasn’t and you know it. You will not act through me Alania. I am not you. I told her.
I will do as I wish whether you like it or not. She told me. And then she took full control of my mind.
