• -Prologue-

Sometimes things just end up flying at you, no warning. You look around, confused on what just happened. But you usually manage to keep going. Though, no matter where you go, it’s always there. Life throws its surprises and sorrows full force at your face, knocking you to the ground. After so many blows, are you able to stand again? Can you keep going? You can surely try.
When you stand up, if you can, what do you do next? Do you walk on like nothing happened, or do you look around, trying to find the source of the attack? Will you ever be able to find it? Find the source of the pain? Some say it’s impossible, others have their hopes. But aren’t hopes only for the hopeless? The ones who dwell on their situations are their experiences, unable to move on?
There are ones who see the fact that there is no point to try to understand what life chucks at you, for it usually has no exact reason. Death is death, Pain is pain, and life will throw both at you, full force. But no matter who you are, there is one thing we all ask continuously throughout our pathetic lives. Why? Why does it have to be us? The answer is; it doesn’t have to be you, it just is.

    -Blurb-

Erica Ross is just like any other eighteen year old in the Region of Schroon Lake in New York. She has average grades, average friends, and an average overall life. Except for the fact that she has little voices in her head that tell her things she doesn’t want to hear. She never tells anyone about them, afraid of what people will think, and that they will send her away. She trudges through every day with a smile on her face, and her head raised high.
But when push comes to shove, will she be able to keep herself under control and save the ones closest to her? Or will she fall, like all the others just like Erica? Can she handle the power?

    -Chapter One-

Light shone through the window, adding a warm glow to the room. The stream of light hit a little snow globe on Erica’s desk, spreading a rainbow on the wall. Erica sat on her bed, staring at the little rainbow, though not really seeing it.
Another average day, another not so average conversation, she thought.
A voice whispered into her ear, though not into her ear at all. In her mind, it spoke to her. Only occasionally, but it was still there. A man’s voice, a soft husky sound.
“There there, Erica. It’s just another day. Nothing you can’t handle. Go on, get up. Go. Get ready for the day ahead.”
Erica rose from the bed, though not because of the command. Merely because that is what she had to do. She’s always had to do it. Rise in the morning, smile throughout the day, and go to sleep at night.
