• Chapter 5:
A few minutes later, Luke came downstairs, followed by a group of people. She had seen them all before, whether it was at dinner or when she first arrived. They all looked different, each in their own way. Annie, who normally had tan skin and blonde hair, was glowing light blue. She saw Kim and, there being one thing that didn’t change about her, started bouncing and waving.
“Kimmy!!! Hey!!! How ya doing? Sorry it’s so late but ya gotta know!”
Know what? I am so confused. Why is everyone here?
Kim shuddered, trying not to lose her nerve. Luke stopped; quickly following, everyone else did the same.
“We usually wait for another day to do this. Seeing as how you caught Elliot and his gang, we probably can’t hide it.”
“You wait to do what?” Kim shifted in her seat, staring at the serious looks on everyone’s faces.
“Call it an initiation.” Lee spoke up.
“We’re not a cult, Lee. I’d say it’s more like….an introduction, more or less.” Elliot said, losing his straight face for a moment to laugh at Lee.
“Ok!” Luke said sharply, stopping yet another conflict between the two. “You know some of us by name, and you will most likely meet everyone here over time. There’s one thing you should know before you do this, though. No one here is….human, at least not fully. We all are……demons to some extent. Everyone belongs to a division within our group. We have five,” Luke held up five fingers, pointing to each as he went down the list, “Psychics, witches, vampire, fairies, and animal demons. Each division has a leader.”
Elliot stepped forward, smiling again. “I lead the vampire gang!!”
“How we got roped into that, I do not know,” Lee, again, pissed Elliot off.
A flash of light came between them. They stopped dead in their tracks. Luke looked behind him.
“Thanks, Inda. We need to somehow separate these two for awhile.”
A pale girl with bright golden hair stepped forward. She held her hand out and, with another flash of light, a barrier separated Elliot and Lee.
“That,” Luke motioned to the red-head, “is Indanra. She’s a light fairy.”
“Hi. Just call me Inda,” she smiled slightly, and then walked away.
“She leads the fairy division. I won’t bore you with all of the details of who’s who here,” Luke smiled again, relieving some of the tension from the room. “So, any questions?”
“Am I in one? A division?”
    Stupid question.
“You are only if you want to stay. If so, you’d be in the animal demons with Kara.” He pointed to a short girl with spiky black hair and what looked to be dog ears.
    “I think….I think I will stay.”
“Great!!” Luke hugged her, almost breaking her in half. “Why don’t you go back to bed? If you want to ask anyone anything, they’ll be here. For now, it’s late.” He yawned. “Bedtime!!”
Once again troubled by the preceding afternoon, Kim managed to fall asleep again, with so many questions swirling around in her head.
I have tomorrow. I guess I will be staying here. For now.
