• Chapter 1

As Light walked up to, the gigantic doors he felt like running back home to watch TV again but his mom wouldn't let him. He made himself as heavy as possible but his mom still dragged him to the classroom. There he saw tons of other kids screaming,

    "I don't want to go"

"Mommy don't make me go." and a bunch of other thing but most of them were just flat-out crying. As Light went through the door a kid with messy black hair, black eyes which looked they hadn't gotten an rest in weeks, a baggy white long sleeve shirt that looked like it was never ironed and really loose jeans which looked dirty, standed in front of him.

"Hi I'm..." said the weird little boy.

"Yes?" said Light as he looked at the boy with a confused look

"I'm...just call me L" said the boy with a slight smile.

"Is L a name?" Light asked his mom with a slight hint of suspicion.

"Maybe he's just shy" Light's mom said with a hint of confusion in her voice as well. As Light was playing with his new friend, L went to the bathroom. Something caught Light's eye it was something black and white. He took it to the teacher who was ugly and looked like a devil with black hair that pointed up, really pale skin, and wore a lot of black, bottom line: he was scary.

"Teacher what is this thing?" Light asked while handing the teacher the notebook.

"Oh well it's something called a notebook. Let me see it." He said while gesturing for Light to hand him the notebook. "It's blank it looks like it's your lucky day."

"What do you do with it?" said Light wanting to know what this strange thing was for.

"Well, you take something that leaves a mark like a pencil or a pen and you do this." As he wrote something in the book Light was hypnotized by the strokes of the pencil. When he finished he turned the notebook around and said, "This is your name." Oh, did I mention that Light was bright for his age because a normal 4 year old would just scribble. Light took the notebook and started to write a letter and all he wrote was one letter: L.

"L? Isn't that what that other kid calls himself" asked the teacher.

Light nodded and went to show L his notebook. Before he could show him L came out said...

"It's gone! My notebook is gone." Light looked at the notebook then looked at L. He didn't want to give the notebook back but it was the right thing to do.

As the teacher watched on he quietly said to himself with a smirk "Little kids are so interesting."
