• I was walking deep in a forest, in the dead of December, my snow crunching under my sneakers. A soft breeze blew my hair around my face and I heard the light sound of someone breathing behind me. I swiftly turned around to see a huge wolf staring straight at me. There was something recognizable about the way he looked at me. It was the exact way an old friend of mine used to. No one had seen him for years. The story was that he ran away, but people who truly knew what he was would know the truth. I muttered one word under my breath. "Max." The wolf looked up at me intently, like I had called to him. I watched closely as the wolf in front of me transformed into an eleven year-old boy. "Marisa? I thought you still lived in Wilson. What are you doing here?" he said.
"Max, you are in Wilson. The pack told us you had looped around, but you didn't know it yet."
"What? I saw the sign...I was in Kentucky. How did that happen?"
"You were in Wilson, Kentucky. You accidentally looped around and came back home. We all want you to stay Max, we all miss you."
"Then what are you doing here Marisa? You should be at home sleeping."
"So should you," I told him sternly, "but the pack sent me here to talk some sense into you. We want you back. Do you know what you are doing to Jack?" Jack is Max's father, Jack felt like it was his fault that Max left.
"Marisa, Marisa, Marisa...I can't come back. It hurts me to much to see you with that, that, thing. How can you like him? He could kill you if he wanted too."
"Seth would never kill me Max. If you want to play that way, you can too! Remember you broke three of my ribs just by giving me a hug!"

    ~the next day~

I watched out my window as the snow softly fell onto the glistening layer that had formed the night before. Soon the pack would be leaving to hunt. There was a band of vampires that had found my scent and had become curious. Not many people lived in the country outside of Wilson. "Seth, do you think Max will stay?" I said, worrying about my childhood friend.
    "I don't know Marisa."
"I really don't want him to leave again, Seth. He's like my brother, and I can't have my brother just up and leave because he doesn't like my boy friend."
