I'm not that old myself, in body, but in mind I feel ancient. One reason is that I have a bunch of traits stereotypically found in old people, like going to sleep and waking up earlier than most, thinking of the future, slight conspiracy theorism, paranoia, irritation at the thought of people near my house, and a few others, like generally dislikeing the kids these days.
I hate most young people, their music, their being near my house, (particularly my lawn) the sound of their incoherrant dribble when they speak, and above all their deep-rooted sense of total superiority to everyone else on earth with their cheif reason of thinking this being "because I say so". Some seem to think they're smarter than everyone else, stronger than everyone else, faster than everyone else, and more knowlegeable than everyone else on every subject regardless of obvious fact on the matter, like saying they're more intelligent when all they can bring to a serious debate is random profanity and silly arm motions, waving them about like a chimp that just grew wings.
You can try every manner of communication with these things, but all they seem to understand is "oh, you were right, forgive me overlord". I hear (and see) that with youth comes arrogance, certainty of you being right and others being wrong no matter what evidence is presented. I question them on their clearly flawed way of thinking, but I made the mistake of using multisyllabic words, so there wasn't much progress.
I blame modern parenting and the school system, both tend to tell children "you're special and can do anything you set your mind to" with total obliviousness to how many "special" people fail at life and become hobos, special hobos that can do anything they set their minds to. It's all a joke and the punchline is that they really aren't special until they make themselves so, otherwise, if they could only open their eyes, which were sewn shut with delusions of grandure, they'd see that they are not gods as previously thought, but only human and need to think things through better.
Hearing this, most have them would think "Bulls@^t, I know I'm right because (the cat dances on the moon, for all I care, their reason will be equally bogus most of the time) I can do (insert completely irrelevant activity, perhaps to distract from the sudden flow of evident ignorance the subject produces) and you're (apparently random, flawed observation of what was said)"
I don't understand how the little calculaters in their heads compute data, but something is definately wrong.
BOTTOM LINE: The young people these days have problems, some of which might not be curable.
That;s this week's rant,I'm Varmeip, Goodnight.
