Daine's Journal
A collection of stories, thoughts, wanderings, and a bunch of fictional writing. A place to develop my characters or just think out loud... You'll never know what may be true or not.
It's Not Over Til The Fat Lady Sings...
So, I think my last update was a long time ago, in a far away galaxy and...well, you get the point. I'm, once again, long overdue for an update. How will I keep a loyal audience if I only update once in a Blue Moon? Good beer, but not much for helping me keep up the comments. And I do love comments!

Sooo, Soren and I recently celebrated our 3 year anniversary. It was wonderful. Kind of. The anniversary didn't go so well.
Allow me to elaborate.

In January, Soren took me to the Bentley for a surprise outing, just as a chance for us to get away. He picked me up after some really LOOOONG Saturday meetings and had all my stuff in the car. We took a nice, luxurious nap at the hotel and then got showered and dressed for a fancy dinner. I wore my red swirly dress and he wore his suit. Soren, however, learned that he needs to double check when he packs. He had left my heels at the house, so we had to drive back to pick up shoes. It was kind of awkward, but still fun. That's what I love about him. He's so human! My roommate took some pictures of us that night. We went back to the hotel and then continued our date. We walked to a really nice Italian restaurant down the block. Unfortunately, Soren also learned the value of reservations that night...the restaurant was exclusive and busy enough to need reservations. Luckily, we were able to sit at the "bar", which was a bar but was really nice and the same feel as the rest of the small restaurant. We had an appetizer that was fancy and made with homemade cheese and then had melt-in-your-mouth ravioli. We walked back to the hotel and had cheesecake in their bar area and listened to live music. It was really nice and relaxing. Then we had fun the next morning. With strawberries. And hammocks. And some other stuff that I won't go into here. Oh yeah!

For Valentine's Day, Soren and I both decided that we wanted to do something to celebrate. So, I planned for a couples massage and he planned his own surprise for a week earlier (also our 2 year 10 month anniversary). (And yes, as a side note, we do celebrate monthly anniversaries. Good excuse for us to set aside time a go out on a date). So, obviously the 8th being earlier than the 14th, Soren's date rolled around first. We got really dressed up (he in his new suit he got for Christmas and I in a blue skirt and white blouse) and he took me out to a really nice Italian restaurant. We had a ton of fun sitting and eating. It was a really long dinner. We had some really weird meat dish that was almost like creamed meat, but it was really tasty. Then we had the really fun chocolate sugar-y desert where you have to smack the top in order to get to the inside. It is flamed I think.
Then he took me to our favorite dance spot to go swing dancing. Unfortunately, since it was near Valentine's Day, it was really super crowded. I was, also, wearing heels, which made it incredibly hard to dance, since there were a number of people (Soren EXcluded) who enjoyed stepping on my toes. The fifth step and I was rather tired of it. So instead, we went back to the house I was renting and turned on my laptop to dance to some swing music there. We opened a bottle of Menage e Toi (I have no idea how you even attempt to spell it), which is a wine that combines three red wines together. We had made a romantic ravioli dinner before that and opened the bottle then...but it got a lot better the next night. We danced the night away and then fell asleep in each other's arms.

Our anniversary in April, though, did not go quite according to plan. Life had gotten rather, dare I say it, hellish, at the house with my roommates and so I was going through a very stressful time of trying to find someone to take over my lease so I could move to a new apartment. That was not going very well though. So I was really tense and upset. I had hoped to plan a really romantic date to a hotel where we could have a romantic weekend together. Unfortunately, I had expected to be moved out well before our three year anniversary. So, I never had a chance to plan it. But Soren, being the wonderful and truly magnificent boyfriend that he is, planned a nice dinner. He took me to a Fondue restaurant for our anniversary weekend, where we had a magnificent meal of Fiesta cheese fondue, salad, and a meat fondue. He also made me try shrimp. I am highly allergic to fish. I didn't think it was a good idea, but he agreed to try sour cream with the potatoes. So we traded...
We had a magnificent chocolate fondue for desert, then went home for bed.

The next day, I had stomach cramps so bad I couldn't sit up. Or keep anything down. I spent the next day home from work as well since I was still feeling poorly.

I blamed the shrimp.
He blamed the stress.

He may be right.

I won't admit that though.

Anyway...

I spent the next week surviving on two pieces of French Bread a day and a SlimFast Bar for breakfast. I think the stress of moving had really gotten to me at that point.

Or the shrimp.

BUT...

I managed to eat again.

That's not the real story. But it is late for a teacher's bedtime, so alas, I will finish the wonderful story of how he took me on the most romantic date last Thursday and we shopped for a most surprising thing...

AHA! Perhaps a way to keep my audience tuned in.
Subscribe away, dear folks, and I promise I shall finish this story before the year is out. Okay, probably earlier, but I am a busy lady here! PM me with questions and once again, I beg you to leave comments. And if you are new to the wonderful land of Daine's insani...I mean Journal, then please go back and check out the evolution of me. And my writing. And my relationship. It's a three year work in progress. And I think it isn't too bad.

If I do say so myself.

Though shrimp is.

Bad, that is.

So long, farewell, some German word I can't spell, and GOODNIGHT!

That. was. beautiful.

It reminds me of my relationship with my boyfriend...we celebrate all our monthly anniversaries. Though my friends think we are crazy, we don't care. And you know what? I guess relationships can go a long way if both sides are true and strong to each other. My boyfriend is leaving to another country to further his studies...and I'm feeling well, left behind. I'm so afraid that he would cheat on me or find refuge in another girls' heart...but I guess now I know I'm wrong. If there's a will there's a way. Thank you for enlightening me today. 3nodding

All the best with real life, Daine! And a toast to your relationship with Soren. heart

Lots of love,
Stephanie~

Man, you are so lucky! I know the other comments also praised your relationship with Soren, but you just don't know how lucky you really are! I, unfortunately, am still single. sad At least you have found someone who you deserve, and who deserves you in return. Good luck with everything, Daine!!

You are an awesome writer.
I wish I could write like that.

And the story? I LOVED the whole thing.
Only, the last line kinda ruined the scene...

I can't stand sea food either, especially shrimp! Sorry to hear that was such a horrid event for you!

But congratz on the 3 year anniversary! Although I'm sure by now you and Soren have been together longer.

So Romantic!
You're lucky to have such a great boyfriend! I wish I had one like Soren too!! crying
I can feel the pain u have with ur stomach too. I have stomachache after eating some mildly raw seafood and stuff too. That was the most painful thing ever! Couldn't even eat fruit or anything else for a week! All I have was congee (Asian soup) and all it was like water.
Anyway, hope ur relationship keep going well with Soren
btw, great story and your writing is really good. ^__^
