Why do people cling to religion? Is it for faith? Is it how we were taught? Is it for lack of a better belief? I'm not religious because it doesn't make sense right now.

For christians: supposedly the world was made in 7 days, man was made, man sinned, years later Jesus Christ, supposed son of God, dies for our sins.

Muslims: Pretty much the same thing, from what I can tell, but Jesus isn't thought to be the savior, Muhammad (I think) is. +72 virgins in death, from what I gather.

Jews: Same as christian, but they think we have not yet had a messiah.

Note: I am not a theology scholar, but that's my understanding of it, and yes, there are other religions, but I don't know them all and will move on.

The triangle above is probobly mankind's dumbest invention in history. It basicly means that they all pretty much think the same thing, but some are willing to kill eachother over a stupid little detail no one is sure of. Why fight over it?

Religion is like science, people have an idea of what happened, make theories that may contrast one another, and they eventually figure it out.

We are still in phase 2, contrasting theories. Rather than put aside this silly, unimportant squabble, many decided "No, I am right! This is how it is!" as apposed to sticking by thier faith's teachings and just being good. And they fight.

This is the difference between a belief and an idea, with an idea you can explore from many veiwpoints, with a belief, you're practically cemented in position and can't think as freely.

Supposedly, there is a floating teapot out in space between the earth and jupiter, it may sound rediculous to some, but possible to others, but they don't fight over it,
"bigfoot" is supposed to be living in forests somewhere, but no one fights over whether or not it exists, so why fight over religion? It just seems silly to me.

BOTTOM LINE: don't be a moron and fight over something you're not sure about, it just doesn't make any sense. Love thy neighbor, have some coffee, and go to bed.
