• As I lay here, on your bed. Hugging your hoodie close to my chest, I listen. Your father screams and your mother cry's. They do not know I am here. Your voice. Your voice is broken. Another smash that makes me jump. Another sob, another yell. Another whisper for it all to stop. As the yelling and crying get louder and louder, I hear you run up the stairs. Your door fly's open and you step inside. The side of your face is red. And I know that tomorrow it will be blue and black. I know. Oh how I know. I stand up, letting your hoodie fall to the floor. You run to me. You run into my awaiting arms. And you cry. You swear and you cry and you tell me you love me. And I hold you. I hold you so tight, for fear you might slip away. I will never let you fall. And as I hold you close, whispering how much I love you, the yelling slowly dies away. But still, still I hold you. When your tears stop you cling to me. "Don't ever let me go." you say, your lips close to my ear. "I am forever yours. And I will never, never, let you go." I say. You hug me close and kiss my lips. "I love you." you say. "I love you too."
