• Chapter 1, Part 1: Awake

My mom called out my name from the kitchen telling me to get downstairs, yet I just kept on laying down and staring up. My eyes feel like rocks and my pupils are glued to the chipping paint of my bedroom ceiling. A few minutes later, I come back to reality and head to the dining table. My back is facing towards my mom, and my head is pointed at the wall. There was no conversation I had planned with my mom for this silent morning.
"Did you finish your homework?" My mom calmly asked.
"...Yeah." I had responded in a bland tone. She came over and sat down a plate of buttered toast and some bacon. I stared at the food for a second, but then began to eat slowly.
"Your breakfast got cold because you took so long coming out of your bedroom."
    "Sorry."
"Don't be sorry, just don't expect a hot meal if you are going to snail around in the morning."
"I'll try not to." My mom walked over and kissed my forehead. She patted my back and headed towards the door with her purse.
"Love you, see you after school."
"Bye mom." She paced out the door and slammed it, shaking the ground. Once I noticed she had drove off into her car, I had went to the kitchen sink. I pulled out a dirty combat knife from my stained pocket and began to wash it off. As I wiped it off and got done, my door had quickly opened. I rushed to sheathe the knife, and return it back inside my pocket.
"Hi dad." I said in a awkward tone. My dad didn't reply, he walked out and set his filed down. He then unattached the gun holster and taser from his belt. I had lost my appetite.
"You need to treat your mother with more respect, son."
    "I didn't disrespect her dad."
"You don't show your manners, you don't say Thank You, Please, or even I love you."
    "Sorry."
"I'm tired of you saying sorry all the god damn time, just do it please."
    "Okay.... Hey dad, what's today?"
"It's Friday, and you need to be ready to go to school in 5 minutes please."
    "Got it."
