• The sun had managed to peeks its way out of the dark gray clouds waking me from my sleep. I sat up looking around. I hadn’t bothered moving from my couch from the night before. I didn’t even want to move now, but my body Oder was strong enough to choke a donkey.

Walking into the bathroom, the dark hardwood floors creaking under every step. Leaving an eerie atmosphere behind me. I looked in the bathroom mirror, my pale skin contrasted with my long black hair, my blue eyes hidden under my overgrown bangs. Lack of sleep and malnutrition plagued my face and body.

Turning on the water waiting for it to warm up I quickly undressed, throwing my dirty clothes into the hamper.

As I stepped into the shower, the message that was left on my machine plagued my thoughts. Questions like who was he, what did he want, why be so discrete? I live on my own so why be so mysterious, ran threw my mind. Though I did not let my mind run to far with it. I quickly finished up in the shower, turned off the water and walked into my bedroom. Searching threw my clothes, noting I had to do laundry this week. I threw on some black skinny jeans and white tank top not really caring who saw me.

It was around 3 pm when I left the house. Three more hours. I had three more hours and then I had to chose my path. I was confused and trudged to a local coffee shop on Ontario St. Stratford always had to many coffee shops. Though a lot of them closed down due to all the employees and owner dyeing from the virus.

I order a chai latte and sat at my typical spot, looking out the window watching the odd person passing by. Time had flown. I took a sip and my once warm chai latte was now ice cold. I looked at my watch 5:30pm.

“My god, what am I going to do” I asked myself. It was sad now having anyone to go to for help, My best friend was one of those kids that went missing from the hospital. All the files say she was pronounced dead from the virus, but like my brother, I know she is a live. I know she is looking for me too. She had been my friend since I was six years old. She was more family then anything. She also shared the flat with me. I never thought of renting out her room once she disappeared.

I left the café the women behind the counter managing to wish me a good day. I walked outside and it had begun to rain like it usually does in April. Of course I forgot my umbrella and would just have to deal with the weather.

Waiting for the crossing signal to change so I could cross the street was always a pain. I could feel someone behind me.

“You really shouldn’t stand in the rain” he said sharing his umbrella with me. Though it was only in vain considering I was already soaked to the bone.

“Listen bud, I’m not selling so you can move along.” I retorted to this obviously dumb male. A lot of girls started to sell there bodies for money once the virus was really starting to spread. A lot of employers wouldn’t hire anyone in fear that that person would be contracting the virus.

“I’m not buying” he said still behind me.

“well then what the hell do you want” I asked sharply. Turning around to see a very tall man around my age. He was very clean cut, a business man, he had a brief case and a nice, probably expensive, suit on. He had piercing red eye, probably contacts, and dark brown hair. He was abnormally pale, worse then me. It was odd. He was frighteningly handsome.

“You can go now” he stated smirking and I could have sworn I saw a fang.

I quickly turned around and walked across the street, his umbrella still over me, I could feel his body heat from behind me. He must be infected. Nobody naturally has the temperature. I shrugged it off and continued on my walk.

“Where are you going” he asked obviously trying to start a conversation that I knew was not going to happen.

“None of your business.” I stated crossing another street, almost to the Shakespeare gardens. As I began to enter the gardens I felt rain beginning to hit my face again. I turned around looking at the now fear filled man.

“what is up with you” I raised an eyebrow puzzled by this strange man. I fallowed his gaze and saw a man dressed in all black sitting on a bench. This dangerous aura was resonating off of his body. I was assuming this was the man I was supposed to meet. I felt the man that had fallowed me, presence leave. The man I was supposed to meet stood and began to walk towards me. He didn’t have an umbrella either, just a big black hat. The rim was big enough to act as an umbrella.

“Areona Jennings” he stated walking closer. His voice barely

comprehendible over the loud pelting of the rain on the stone path.

“Yes I am Areona Jennings” I yelled trying to be heard over the rain. A gust of wind then blew, my hair playing in the wind making me close my eyes. As my eyes reluctantly opened I noticed something odd. The man that had been approaching me had disappeared.

“Excuse me creepy man!” I yelled out. Nothing, just the splatter of rain on my surroundings. “what the hell” I felt someone behind me but before I could turn around everything went blank.
