• First Period:

The Morning bell rang as everyone filled into the classroom and took their seats.
“Figures. Not one hot chick to start the year off right.” Ben plopped down in the seat next to me and leaned back grinning. I ignored him and watched as the last few people came in and took their seats. That’s when I saw her.
“Heeyy...Check it out. I think we got a win.” He said grinning at her as she walked over in our direction.
I was staring. I couldn’t help myself. She was angelic and graceful. She was beauty in all its perfection. A goddess in the flesh and I. was staring. Like a mad man.
“Is this seat taken?” She smiled as she brushed a few strands of white blonde hair behind her ear.
“Babe that seat is all yours.” Ben said smoothly as he leaned across his desk in her direction and winked. She laughed a musical little laugh and my pulse quickened at the sound of it. “Your name? Or should I call you angel? Angel.” He winked at her again and she laughed. Again.
“My name's Julia.” She looked over at me and I noticed for the first time that her eyes where a slivery tropical blue. I groped for something to say back. Um. Uh.
“H-hi.” An I.Q. of 345 and all I could think of was h-hi. Man I was lame. Wait. She’s still staring at me!? “I’m Rowan and that’s Ben. Nice to meet you Julia.” I smiled politely feeling more than a little nervous.
“It’s nice to meet you too.” She smiled sweetly then turned away. Did her cheeks just go red for a second? I looked over at Ben who was staring from Julie to me with his mouth hanging open like an idiot. The tardy bell rang and his face twisted into a glare a second before he turned away.

    Lunch:

I tried to look a little nonchalant as I searched around the cafeteria for Julia. I hadn’t seen her since this morning.
“Roe come back down man. Jeez you are way in the clouds. Where’s Julia.” Ben dropped his tray on the table and looked around impatiently.
“Can I sit with you guys?” Ben spun around and looked more than a little annoyed.
“Late.” He motioned for her to sit down in the seat across from him. He ate a few of my fries, picked at his burger, pushed it away, then spoke. “You’re late which is usually frowned upon but you’re a new comer so I’ll let it slide this once.” He winked and started grinning. I glanced over at Julia.
“Hey Roe.” She brushed a few strands of her hair behind her ear, looked up at me, and smiled. I stared back up at her. Did she just call me Roe?
“Hey. Julia.” Ben cleared his throat and opened his mouth to say something when Emi ran over and sat down. I swear she just saved me from one of his man speeches. I’d have to thank her later.
“What’s up Kid?” Ben said high fiveing her and grabbing a few of her fries. She reached over and was about to twist his wrist when she noticed Julia. She looked from her to me and smiled. Sometime girls just knew thing I guess. I’d have to thank her for that one later too.
    “Uh Ben. Walk with me.”
“What? No. I’m eating.” He reached for more of her fries.
“No…I think you’re done.” She stood up and walked away pulling Ben along with her. He looked back over his shoulder at Julia and a look of hurt flashed across his face. He shifted his gaze over to me and glared. I waited for Julia to say something. When she didn’t I looked around for something to talk about. She glanced over at me occasionally, smiled, but never said anything.
“So-” She looked up at me with sudden interest but it was gone as quickly as it came as the bell rang and everyone left. She stood and hesitated before walking away.
“So…” She brushed her hair behind her ears. “I guess I’ll see you later?” She smiled hopefully.
“Uh yeah. I mean of course. Of course.” I smiled politely then walked away.
