• I walk down this road of which I have walked over a thousand times before, yet until today I have not yet witnessed its true beauty. I glance at the lush ever-green pine trees, which seem to stand a thousand stories high almost touching the cotton bud like clouds above. I suddenly turn as I am confronted by a deer covered in white spots which gives the impression it has just recently snowed upon it. It then bows and wraps its tongue around a dozen blades of lushes green grass. Slowly chewing and then swallowing. As the deer notices my presence, it leaps off into the near distance. Only to stop at a couple of berry covered bushes, in which it continues to graze to satisfy its hunger. I slowly continue down the pebble covered road until I reach a small shimmering pond. A small golden fish lunges out of the crystal clear water only to return back into the same water of which it came. I sit down in the grass which is covered in small daisy like flowers. For this short moment, my life seemed perfect. I looked upwards, as something caught my attention. A crow as dark as death itself landed on a worn down branch in a tree on the other side of pond. To my horror, behind that tree was devastation. From that one tree and onwards it seemed that death had paid a short visit, every tree in sight was dead or dying. A sort of smog covered the forest floor and there was not an animal in sight. I gasped, as something nudged me from behind. I turned if fear, only to see that it was the deer which had seemed to have finished grazing. I gazed into its eyes, they seemed to be filled with fear as it to, witnessed this devastation. It ran into the distance and looked over its shoulder. It was waiting. For me? It stood there staring at me. I then stood and unsurely followed the deer. It galloped to tree hollowed out at the bottom. It gazed in as if it wanted to show me something. Then out of the hollow, three small deer emerged cautiously followed by what seemed to be their mother. My eyes filled with tears, my knees buckled as I fell to the ground. Through all this devastation, this small family survived. The mother deer nudged me and I looked up at her. She turned and looked out at the devastated forest. A man appeared out from behind a burnt tree. My heart stopped for a few short seconds. The deer family disappeared into their hollowed tree. I was left there, in the open wilderness. To fend for myself. One of the young deer peered out, as if it was worried. Its eyes met with mine for what seemed like a minute, before the father deer pulled it back in. The man seemed to be walking towards me. I ran to the pond to seek a place to hide. To my horror there was no where in sight to hide. I peered backwards, to see if the man was still there. He seemed to be picking up pace and entered a run. I screeched, birds flew from the trees above into the sky. I ran into the disastrous oblivion, not knowing what was ahead. I stopped, quickly surveying the land. Ahead of me was a tree, it was still alive. I grasped its branches and quickly climbed into the foliage. The man appeared at the base of the tree. He drew a dagger and grasped the blade in between his teeth and began to climb. I was hit with adrenalin and climbed even faster than I have before. Time seemed to slow when I lost my footing and fell backwards out of the tree. Screaming, I was trying to regain my footage. Helplessly reaching for the branches. My attempts were not enough, as I continued falling. I closed my eyes and braced myself for the fall. I come to a sudden stop, realizing I had not yet met the ground. I look upwards, only to see the man who is bearing the dagger between his teeth. He had gotten hold of me on the tip of my amethyst cape. I drew my sword and swung it towards him. I cut my cape and fell to the ground. I lay there for a few seconds, until I heard him climbing back down the tree. I quickly get up and run. I have no idea where I am running to, but anywhere is better than here. I keep running until I meet a cliff. I turn and look behind me, the man is still coming. I grab the cross around me neck, praying to land safely. I then jump over the edge. I look upwards in my fast decent, to see the man staring down at me. He throws his sword to the ground and pulls the bow from his back. He loads it and begins to shoot at me. An arrow hits me in between the shoulders and I scream in pain. I land in the water below; as I hit the water I become unconscious.
