• They entered Adem’s room Rafi and Marie were in the lead with Eva bring up the behind. He looked up as they entered. “Hey guys, how it is” his voice trailed off as he saw Eva enter the room. “Hi…Eva, how have you been?”

Eva looked at Adem and she felt horrible. First for the fact she had caused this and for not visiting him sooner. “Hi Adem, your looking better,” she said keeping her eyes on the floor.

Rafi tapped Marie on the shoulder, “Lets give these two some alone time.” Marie nodded her head. Rafi looked at Eva then Adem hey would you two like some think from the vending machines?”

“Eva and Adem looked at him. “I could use a soda, man. Make it root beer.” Adem said with relief on his face. He hadn’t had a root beer for a few days now and he really wanted one.

“I wouldn’t mind a drink and a snack would be fine with me,” Eva said as she looked back out the window.

“And I will come with you cause I don’t know what I want,” Marie said as she got out of her seat.

“Ok four drinks and some snacks it is,” Rafi said as he and Marie left the room. When they where out of sight of the door he turned to Marie, “Now we will give then a couple of minutes of a lone time.”

“That sounds good to me,” Marie said as she and he walked down the hall. “But I have one question how will we explain the time we took?” she asked.

“Why we will say that the vending machines on this floor were broken.” Rafi said with an evil smile.

The silence and tension in the room was so thick between them you could cut with a knife. But neither of them knew how to break the ice that had formed between them. “What’s taking them so long,” Adem finally said.

Eva said nothing she didn’t know what to say and she didn’t trust her self. She might break down if she tried to talk now. So she just kept looking out the window.

Adem sighed he would have to make the first move. “Eva, look I’m sorry you had to see my dark side. It’s just that what Jakob said really got to me.” He stopped trying to read from her body language if she was going to forgive him.

Eva was shocked he was asking her to forgive him. But she was the reason that he was here. “Look you aren’t the one who should be apologizing. It’s me; I am the one who got you into this situation.” Eva didn’t turn to look to him. She didn’t want him to see her crying.

Adem was shocked why was she saying this? He just stared at her back. She was crying he could tell. He got up out of his hospital bed and hugged her. “I could never be made at you,” he whispered in her hair.

Eva stiffened this was so not like Adem. This was not one of Adem’s normal hugs. She felt her self panicking. She struggled a little bit and Adem let her go. She turned and looked into his eyes. What she saw there scared her because the emotion there was so intense that she didn’t know what to do. She ran out of the room.

Adem watched her go. He sat back on to his bed. “Well, Adem you screwed that up,” his voice was tight with the pain in his heart and the tears he couldn’t shed.

A little time later Eva came back but she kept away from Adem. She didn’t know what to do. When Rafi and Marie came back with the food the mood was worse then it had been before they left.
