• A yellow Mercedes Benz pulled up in front of an old beaten down warehouse. Inside the warehouse were three men armed with AK47s and a cell with two other men inside. One of the two men in the cell was 37 year old, Jason Gilds. He was tending to the wounds of the other man in the same cell. The other man was 26 year old, Michael Kepsic. He had been severely beaten and was teetering in and out of consciousness.

A well dressed man stepped out of the Mercedes, followed by two other armed men also with AK47s. He walked into the warehouse and headed for the cell which held Michael and Jason. When the man walked up Jason sprang for the cell bars and started yelling at the man. Strangely his eyes were calm and almost serene when he looked at the man, but his body told a different story, he was very tense and looked as though he could rip the bars out of the ground at any moment and reach for the man's throat.

“You son of a b**ch! You have no right showing your face around here any more. I don't care if you own this warehouse or not. Michael is your son! YOUR-SON!” Jason pointed to Michael as he talked. “If you have any love for him, and I mean any in that god-forsaken black hole of a heart, then you will get Michael to a f**king hospital, NOW!”

“You have no right to talk to me like that.” The man said coolly. He never once looked at Michael. “He is no longer my son. Not since he became one of you.” He spat the last word out like it was some piece of food stuck between his teeth.

Jason now seemed to become truly angry. He doubled his fists and glared at the man. “I hope to see you in hell.”

Out on the road leading into the warehouse two dozen cop cars were flying at top speed from three different counties, and even two state troopers, all to save the life of two of their own.

In the lead squad car, officer Haven Stoltz was driving faster than her car could go. She wouldn't let her best-friend and her boyfriend die, even if her life depended on it. They pulled in to the warehouse lot only to be greeted by a hail of gunfire.

Inside Jason heard the cop cars pull up and then the hail of gunfire and feared the worst was soon to come. He looked at the man one last time. “If you're gonna shoot me shoot me now just leave Michael alive.”

“Are you kidding?” He laughed. “I would never shoot you, not unless he was watching.” He pointed at Michael.

He signaled to his men and four of them entered the cell. Two grabbed Jason and held his arms tightly almost to their breaking point. The other two Picked Michael up and held him the same way. All four of them dragged Michael and Jason out. The man pulled out a gun. It was Michael's service weapon. He smiled a bit and waved it at Jason a couple times.

“I would think it to be a bit ironic to be killed by your best-friend's own weapon wouldn't you?” He looked a Jason, then turned around and slapped Michael across the face to wake him up. “Oh Michael, I have a surprise for you.”

Michael opened his eyes slowly. The first thing he saw was Jason. Then he saw his father with his gun. He would never forget what happened next, how could he? He watched as his father pointed the gun at Jason.

    “Any last words?”

Jason glared long and hard at the man and slowly his body began to relax. “F**k you, Jeck Kepsic. F**k you.” He looked back at Michael and waited for the bullet.

Jason didn't have to wait long. Jeck pulled the trigger and the bullet went straight into Jason's right lung. Michael's eyes grew wide at the sound of the gun firing. He saw Jason drop to the ground while he was dragged kicking and screaming back into the cell.

Jeck and his men left in record time and the gunfire outside subsided. The only sound that could be heard was Michael screaming for help and screaming Jason's name hoping he would answer. Hoping that he would stand up and smile that devilish smile of his and be unhurt and say 'Jeck is just a wimp who can't aim' or something witty like always.

“Jason! Jason! Get up you a**!' Michael was now hysterical. “You can't be dead! You can't die! I won't look good in black Jason! Get the f**k up!”

Outside the other officers were heading inside the building. They could all hear Michael's hysteria and they all knew they had come only moments too late. They even recognized his voice. One officer couldn't stand hearing the sound and plugged her ears. She soon fell to the ground and sat in the one spot crying and ignoring everyone around her. The officer was Haven.

“Somebody help! Please, somebody... help...” The five minutes it took for them to find Michael seemed like hours to him. He was helpless, and felt useless. He sat in the cell as he watched Jason bleed to death.

Jason lay on the ground choking as his lungs slowly filled with blood. His breathing became shallow and he constantly looked back at Michael. It was comforting to see a friend in his last moments. He wasn't crying or panicking, he was calm and felt as though he had done all he ever wanted to do and was ready to leave.

He couldn't hear anything going on around him and was glad he couldn't, he saw the look on Michael's face. All the pain he was experiencing, it was probably more painful for Michael than himself to be there. He couldn't stand to let his life go and to leave his friends behind so he hung on. He hung on till he could no more but thankfully he didn't have to the other officers arrived and immediately they started to stop the bleeding.

They had brought an ambulance with them and a group of nine paramedics. Five of the medics came into the room and four proceeded to stabilize Jason while the last took care of Michael who needed less attention and also who insisted that Jason needed it more. They loaded them both up into the ambulance because they were the worst injured out of the incident. Haven jumped into the front of the ambulance as they headed off toward the hospital.

On the way to the hospital Jason gave Michael the necklace he always wore. Michael never knew what was on the other end of the chain till today. Two marriage bands were on the end of it. No matter what the medics did they could not save Jason. He died on the way to the hospital grasping Michael's hand.
