• CHAPTER 182 - I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE YOU

Every day seems to be another milestone as the end is nearing. We've accomplished everything together that a couple should--except for parenthood. The lovers' parting is nigh and all odds are against us. Luck is nothing more than a word. Goodbye is the only word we know.

    .:{{Kai's Perspective}}:.

I had never been more in love with Arisa than the night before her departure. She possessed such beautiful eyes and skin and an entrancing voice. Her kisses had always been shy, as well as her actions. She had always been a frail, cautious, paranoid girl, but it would never retard my still growing affections for her. She was everything I desired and more; she penetrated my wall of distrust and brought me back to my old self again. She brought light into my world, light that had been long gone. But that light is leaving. My precious fiancée was going to depart. My life would be gray once more.

With my arms constricted around her body and my torso pressed against her back, I restrained my breathing as often as I could. If I were to inhale too much of her scent, I would lose control and possibly kill her on accident. I adored the feeling of her skin; it was so smooth and warm. If there was anything I could do to become a human once more, I would do it in a heartbeat for my precious Arisa.

My distracting thoughts were abruptly disturbed by a vibration in my pocket, signaling that my cell phone had an awaiting text message. I slid my arm out of Arisa's after kissing her neck and I pulled my phone from my pocket. I flipped my phone open and opened the text message.

"You're taking too long; we're coming to get her."

    They were...s**t!

I teleported out of the bed and dressed myself quickly in a matter of three seconds. I circled the bed and dropped onto my knees in front of my sleeping Arisa. She appeared so peaceful and beautiful; it would be a sin for me to disturb her sleep, especially for such an urgent manner. I gently shook her shoulder, trying to be as gentle and calm as I could manage.

Arisa lightly gripped onto my hand and sighed with her eyes still closed, "Kai..."

"Arisa, you need to wake up," I shook her shoulder again. "You need to leave."

Her complexion shifted to subtle pain, still half asleep. She kissed my hand daintily, "I love you, Kai,"

My deceased heart wrenched and shattered at the sound of her delicate voice. Her voice I would lose forever, "Arisa, please. We need to get you out of here."

Her large purple eyes cracked open slowly and she stared at me with what seemed like disbelief in her eyes, "What?"

"It's time," I said regretfully; I desired for it to be as false as she did.

She sat up slowly, groaning from the pain in her aching limbs, "Time for what?"

I pursed my lips together and dug through the dresser for some of her clothes. I tossed her a pair of underwear, shorts, bra, and a couple of camisoles. My head told me to not look at her but my heart disobeyed and I turned around only to look upon the last thing I desired to see. Arisa was sitting on the bed, covering her naked body with tears billowing down her flushed cheeks.

"Arisa...please..." I pleaded; her tears would surely destroy me.

"I'm not leaving..." she squeaked. She shook her head and sobbed. "I'm not leaving!"

I couldn't tell her that Minoru and Kaiba were coming for her; I had to have her cooperate quickly if we were to ensure her survival, "Arisa, just please bear with me. We need to get you out of here."

    "Kai--"

"We need to get you out of here, dammit!" I blustered and exhaled sharply. The contract was becoming too much; I was border-line losing my sanity.

With tears still streaming down her face, she climbed off of the bed and slowly started dressing herself. She was only in her lingerie when I interrupted and dressed her completely. She slid on a pair of flip-flops and I grabbed my car keys. I gripped her wrist and pulled her out of the house, disallowing her from packing any other valuables; most of her possessions were at Matsuda and Orihime's already. I assisted her into the passenger seat and slammed the door shut. A wave of possession overcame me and my fist met the hood of my car; that could have been Arisa.

I finally seated myself in the driver's seat and ignited the engine. Before I could pull out of the driveway, Arisa reached over and touched my face. I could feel the pain on my complexion and she reflected it. I shook my head vigorously, disallowing her to touch my face.

"Don't touch me," I hissed unintentionally. My vision was becoming blurry from the omnipotent power of the contract.

I was desiring to write in pain; the pain of the contract was almost that of a Vampire infection. My insides felt as though they were an inferno and my throat was incredibly parched. I peeked at my left wrist and the mark was completely visible and burning. My time was incredibly limited; I needed to get Arisa to Matsuda and Orihime's and away from me. I pulled out of the driveway and sped down the gravel road at a hundred miles per hour.

Arisa turned towards the window and pressed her forehead against the window, attempting to hide her face. The scent of her tears was potent; she attempted to conceal her sobbing but it was futile. Our time was cut short and we were going into an abrupt departure once more. I wasn't aware as to where Minoru and Kaiba were but they couldn't have been incredibly far.

Arisa turned towards me again and attempted to cup her hand over mine. I withdrew my hand and keep my eyes on the road, "I-I can't touch you..."

"Kai, we can't do this," she cried. "We're supposed to be parents."

I despised the words I had to force myself to say, "You will have to raise it yourself..."

Arisa stared at me in shock and pain as the tears continued to pour, "I love you, Kai,"

A mere fraction of a second after she said that, the biggest and final wave of possession overcame me and I shouted in pain. I belted on the brakes unintentionally and we slid to a halt. Arisa extended her arms to catch herself on the dashboard but not quite soon enough; she hit her head roughly and pulled back in shock. Minoru and Kaiba; they were coming up right behind us. Their car was only a couple hundred meters behind us and coming up quickly.

Arisa looked over at me in shock and confusion, "Why did we stop?"

I glanced down, attempting to hide my face. Soon enough, I turned my head towards her and gave her my most painful expression. My vision was incredibly fuzzy and dim; I could barely make out her complexion. We were only a few miles from Matsuda and Orihime's. We were too late to evacuate Arisa safely; we were too late!

    "I'm sorry..." I breathed. "I'm so sorry..."

It was done for; there was no more turning back. I held my breath and shut my eyes, feeling the contract finish its business and take me under possession. The end was nigh for my precious Arisa.

    .:{{Arisa's Perspective}}:.

I couldn't process all that was going on; it was all happening too fast. One moment, I was being kidnapped by Kai at the orphanage, the next moment, I was running for my life. I couldn't understand why Kai stopped all of a sudden. I thought I was in a dream; I thought I was still sleeping. But the only dreams I had anymore were nightglares; but this was worse than a nightglare.

"Arisa..." I heard Kai whispered, barely audible while keeping his head lowered.

"Y-yes?" I leaned over towards him just before whipping my head around to see a blaring red Honda S200 speeding towards us.

"Arisa..." he whispered again, still barely audible. I leaned in closer to him and tried to clear up my tears. His shoulders were trembling as severely as my own hands. "Stay in the car. When I tell you to run, you get out of the car and run."

It must have been Minoru and Kaiba coming up behind us, otherwise he wouldn't tell me to run. I couldn't imagine why he thought I could outrun them but I wouldn't disobey him. Kai cupped my face in his hands and pressed his forehead against mine. His grip was incredibly strong but if he was under complete possession, he would have smashed my face in.

    I winced, "Kai--"

"Just please do as I say..." he mumbled again and I still had to listen carefully to hear him. "Please, Arisa...it's for the sake of you and the child."

I nodded with tears still rolling down my burning cheeks, "Okay..."

Kai leaned in and plastered a rough kiss on my lips. At that point, I knew it was a goodbye kiss and not a kiss for luck. My heart was aching and breaking with every passing second; who knew what was going to happen to me now? We were too late to get to Matsuda and Orihime's and Minoru and Kaiba were right behind us. Were they still going to force Kai to watch me be killed?

"I love you, Arisa," he breathed and groaned in pain. "I love you so much."

"I-I love you t-too," I cried into his mouth and kissed him again.

"Oh God, Arisa..." he groaned once more and pressed his face into my neck.

From the corner of my eye, I saw the red convertible stop several feet behind Kai's car and the two nomads stepped out; Minoru and Kaiba. Their complexions looked angered yet pleased as they stood in front of their car, awaiting Kai. Instead of giving me another kiss, Kai immediately lowered his head to the lump on my stomach and he kissed it firmly. My heart was fluttering once more but my stomach was still in knots. Kai continued to kiss my stomach, bidding his farewell to his twins. His children. His children he couldn't raise...

"I love you, Arisa..." Kai kissed my lips again. "I'll find a way out of this..."

I kissed him back while sobbing, "I love you too, Kai," I closed my eyes. "Be safe."

We wanted to stop time where it was but, alas, we were incapable of stopping time. It was all a matter of time before I would meet my demise. Kai opened his door and set one foot out before he turned around to kiss me once more. He slid his hand down my arm gradually as he made his way out of the car. My sobbing was acting up severely and I so badly wanted to pull him back into the car. We neglected to take me to Matsuda and Orihime's in time and we were paying for the consequences.

Our hands released and he shut his door as he went to confront the nomads. My heart was completely ripped in two; I had never imagined how difficult it would be to let go of Kai for a final time. Our last physical contact we would ever have before he's holding my corpse.
