• Chapter 1

The world outside of normal eyes is dark and evil, me and my brother were turned 2000 years ago 200 years after our turning a war began that shook the world and I was exiled from the kingdom me and my brother called home he gained the throne.

I walk the lands with a fledgling I created; I could show him the lands but not the cities and a single town that would accept me. An order was given to me by a messenger signed with the royal glyph, we set out on the 5 day trip to the capital my fledgling had a look at the order “father, what does it mean the 6 sons have been found?” his voice questioned with curiosity, I stopped and turned looking at his face I knew he had to learn the truth to my exile.
That night we stopped in a cave where I told the tale of the 7 demons, “son, the tale of the 7 demons is a real event it happened over 1500 years ago, a war raged among our kind by 7 vampires they had feed upon many of their own kin and grew with power that should only be allowed to royalty, the king with his age at the time had not the power to stop these demons. During the war thousands of vampires died, one vampire had the power that halted the war in doing so he sealed 6 demons away in tca’sarfan temple and the 7th demon was killed and the warrior that defeated these demons began exile. So the truth is I could not kill my 6 sons.” The look in his eyes was of fear and hate but I knew he would have questions.

“You’re the warrior but why go into exile? But also you said 7 demons but sealed 6 and killed one but sons you mean the 6 were my brothers? Who was the 7th demon?” he asked with confusion, his mind could not understand the truth.
“My children, the 6 demons sealed away were my sons and the 7th demon was me I grew tired of the senseless killings we were doing, we had drunk the blood of our kin and drew powerful but that was the most unforgivable law my brother had created that rule after he rose to power that way. But in return for taking down my sons I had to leave not allowed to enter the capital or cities that I ruined and to not create any more fledglings with my corrupt bloodline, but if my brother has ordered my appearance it means that danger above his power is present and I am granted a single use pardon.” I explained with a hurt look, the sun was rising I stood up and wrapped my scarf round my face and made a hat with the excess my son also stood up and copied me we then set off.

The suns heat was hard on my fledgling, but before he could sense a vampire in front of us I was already showing the order his eyes had not seen any of the movements, the vampire stopped and looked at the order he let us past with a single warning “we will watch you all the time demon, you make any actions to kill we will kill you both.” With that warning he disappeared, we continued walking the distance rather than flit “son is the sun too much for you to bare, we can flit but I will be faster than you so climb on my back” I asked feeling guilty for not flitting in the first place.
His eyes were brighter than they should have been for the amount of time he has spent in the sun, I had no choice but to lift him up and flit to the capital we reached the domed city in a second. I pushed the gate open that should take 2 vampires, I could not wait while my fledgling was dying the guards inside began to arrange round the gate I entered and dropped my child on the ground and closed the gate, the guards all had weapons ready for a fight but I showed my pardon and many lowered weapons while some still had theirs raised. I removed my head gear and the guards raised their weapons again, in the event of opening the gate I had used my vampire strength to limit and was starting to change into my monster form I picked up my fledgling again and started to walk the guards all moving back I had to head to an inn near for him to get blood, “guards please move I am here on orders of my brother, my fledgling needs blood or he will die if he dies I will kill you all where you stand!” my features growing more towards a monster with anger and my words growing rough.

They finally moved apart and I continued, I could feel the entire cities life and the life of the vampire wraiths that lurked outside the normal world and our world they are more dead than a vampire, I found an inn I entered and all the patrons inside stopped as the door closed behind me and their lifeless eyes scanning me my power was washing out theirs. “Barman, I need a pint of blood I will pay the price now!” I demanded then dropped 8 gold coins on the counter, his eyes widened as he saw them and he poured a mug of ruby red blood. I had put my fledgling by a corner table and removed his head gear and started to pour the blood down into his mouth, blood was seeping from the side of his mouth but he began to gulp the blood and grabbed the mug from me when he finished the mug his bright eyes were looking at me he tried to stand but he had not recovered. I returned to the counter where the barman was waiting with a pleased look I had a small chat with him and he pointed to a door at the far right to my left I dropped 3 gold coins and he scratched with haste to take them as I moved to my fledgling.
It was early evening when I left the inn with my fledgling, “I taught you how to feel for life around to, now I want you to try that now but concentrate and scan as far as you can. When you have done I will show you my true life power and you will see why I am called demon, now open your mind and concentrate” I told my fledgling so he can see the vast life that is here seen and unseen, he made a small noise I took that as he had done as I asked and as I released my life power his eyes shot open and fear shone through his eyes, “son you now see why I am feared, my brother is dominated by my power but my sons power can be shared among them their bond makes them more dangerous”

His eyes then moved to the shadows and were following a life he could not see; even before he blinked I was standing 2 feet away with disturbing creature squirming in my hand. He looked with disgust at the creature “What is that thing? Why couldn’t I see it before now?” his questions were excepted.
“This is a vampire wraith, they live outside our world when flit we enter their world. They may attack depending on our power, I do not fear these as none are strong enough to win me while they are vampires they come under the rule of my brother and thus they protect this city, they will attack any vampire that dares flit but my power scares them away so you will have no worry.” I comforted my fledgling with the facts “But one vampire wraith does have the strength to fight me sadly my brother can’t make it under his control, I am looking for that fight”
Walking down a street lined with shops of various items a female vampire confronted me “DEMON WHY HAVE YOU CURSED US WITH YOUR PRESENCE AGAIN!” she screamed as she slashed a sliver lined knife but as the blade connected against my skin it shattered, “You are a monster …… how can sliver not harm you?, you are not of vampire any more you’re a real demon!” she cried as she fell to the ground.

I stared down at her frail form and bent down to grab her arm, she winced as I picked her off floor then walked past her I could feel where the blade had hit but did not feel the burning that silver should leave. I am no longer a vampire I once believed, “father does the hit not hurt? Was she one of the victims of the war?” his concern was with warmth but I had no courage to let him see the monster my eyes camouflage, “my child, you must remember that many of the vampires here are old enough to remember even before my coming. I do not have the weakness of vampires, which left me when I drank the blood of my kin I cover my face in the sun to try and remember what the feeling of weakness is like.” A tear came to my eye but I wiped away before he saw, the blood ran down my finger I saw the castle it loomed high above the streets below.
He still followed me after all he saw and learnt, I have a loyal fledgling I picked up pace before he realised and got running to the steps of his castle I felt the wraiths all moving towards the courtyard with the gardens and steps, I could take all the wraiths in a fight but if they attack my son I don’t think I could save him.

“Keep here till I call for you, I feel as if the wraiths are calling me for a fight” I told him with authority, he kept walking a few then stopped when I held him with my power. As I drew closer shapes began to appear from shadows and white eyes peered at me with power pulsing, a sudden peak in power caught my attention the horde of wraiths converged on me.
