• She walks in silence. That's how it always is after the accident. There is no one to protect her anymore, talk to, or hang with. Life just seemed to stand still. Even those who said they would be for her all left in what seemed like an instant.
There was no one left in the world...

Evelyn, a high school senior, walked down the school hallways. Today her hair was coloured orange. She always changed her hair, almost daily, but to save on wear and tear she kept the colour in for a few weeks and then switched to another. No one knew her natural colour. Even her eye colour was a guess for she wore colour contacts.
She thought that by changing her appearance everyone would forget what happened, like she was another person with the same name. The accident was hardly her fault. Her brother, Vik was a victim of a drive by mugging and eventual murder. The cops caught the criminals, but the memories of him laying in the street dead was too much for Evelyn. She felt it was her fault, since she called him and asked him to come home. He walked instead of driving.
She paused at her locker to spin the dial on the lock.
    "Evelyn," said someone beside her.
"What?" she asked looking towards the voice. No one was there. She looked around and there was no one remotely close to her. A few people looked at her briefly and she shook her head and continued to try and unlock her locker.
"Evelyn," the voice said again. Maybe she was going crazy, because there was no one around her. A chill went down her spine as something touched her neck. She stopped what she was doing at once and dropped her book bag on the floor. A few people laughed in the distance, but she thought it wasn't directed at her.
"Evelyn," it said. She was getting rather irritated.
"Whoever is doing that knock it off!" she spat. The students near her stopped to look and the whispering started. She turned back to her locker, frustrated and embarrassed. She saw someone in the corner of her eye lean against the lockers. She turned toward the figure and paled. Yea, she must be going crazy, because the person she was staring at was her dead brother.
