• CHAPTER 160 - THE NASTY TRUTH

    My twin sister's lover is a Vampire...but how? He's a Necromantic Hunter...

    .:{{Arisa's Perspective}}:.

I could feel the cold arms around me again; I was unconscious once more. The pain in my neck still lingered and there was a sting in my right hand. There was a cold body pressed against my backside and the arms tightened around me. I snapped my eyes open and shot upwards, screaming. I turned around to see Kai sitting up as well, holding his hands up to me cautiously.

"Arisa, Arisa, it's me," he advised. "You're back home..."

I looked around the room and, surely enough, we were in our bedroom, on our bed. Groaning, I rubbed my pained neck with my sore hand. I looked around in fear and started hyperventilating; what happened really wasn't a dream. I had been attacked by Akatsuki...Vampire Akatsuki.

"Arisa..." Kai touched my shoulder and pulled me into an embrace. "You're alright now."

I released a sob, burying my face in Kai's shoulder. I returned the embrace and tried to calm myself down. I was petrified and there were too many questions dictating my mind. I wanted to go back to ask Akatsuki every single question, but what were the chances that I would even escape alive again?

"Arisa...Arisa, look at me," he cupped my face and wiped off some of my tears with his thumbs. "I need you to tell me what happened and who did it."

I closed my eyes and pursed my lips, "I-I went into Akatsuki's house, but I thought there was somebody else in there because the door was still open a little..." I cracked my eyes open. "I almost sent you the text but I blacked out..."

"What did you see when you came to?"

I started crying again, "Akatsuki...he-he had bitten into my neck...he was drinking so much..."

"What else did he do to you?" he mumbled.

I shook my head out of Kai's hands and curled up, circling my arms around my legs and burying my face in my knees. I was in too much shock to reveal everything; I needed answers, not my own interrogation. I lifted my head after a second and examined my right hand; it was bandaged around the middle and I could hardly move my middle finger without it hurting; he probably fractured the bone in my hand that lead to my middle finger.

"The bone in your hand possesses a minor crack," Kai mumbled, gently holding my hand in between both of his. "And the puncture wounds--in all spots--are deep. The one on your hand penetrated all the way through. And you possess minor gashes from the windows of your car."

"I'm happy I got out alive," I mumbled, leaning against Kai's chest. "But I want to know what happened to him..."

Kai wrapped his arms around me and kissed my head, "You need to rest is what you need to do," he sighed. "I can go speak with him later."

"Take me with you," I begged.

"Not a chance in the world," he denied easily. "He's a newborn Vampire; he will kill you next time, even if I'm there."

I started crying again, "I'll never be able to see him again..."

Kai paused for a moment before he spoke up again, "I'm going to go see him,"

My embrace tightened around him, "No, don't leave me..."

Kai pried me off of him gently and stared at me, "I'll return,"

As soon as he said that, he climbed off of the bed and slipped into a shirt. He grabbed his keys, and what looked like several bloody towels, and left the bedroom. I quickly hopped off of the bed and ran into Kai before he stepped into his car. I was embracing Kai from behind on our driveway in a short nightgown. I couldn't have cared less; I wanted to know exactly what Kai was going to do.

"I'm going to review all he's done to you," Kai mumbled, "and get answers for you."

"Please don't hurt him," I pleaded. "Please don't hurt him; he didn't mean what he did..."

"As a Vampire, he did," Kai hissed. "He's not the same person anymore, Arisa. He's not even the same being."

"Please be safe," I whispered to him.

I unhanded Kai as he turned around and he cupped my face after setting the bloodied towels on the ground and he kissed me, "I'll return to you,"

I nodded and continued to stand in the driveway as Kai climbed into his car. He pulled out of the driveway, gave me one last sympathetic look and took off down the road I had just been on. I walked to the end of the driveway and stood on the gravel road until Kai's car disappeared in the distance. I went back into the house with the lonely aura taking over once more. Whenever Kai would leave, all I would do is sit and wait.

"He'll come back, won't he, Momo?" I asked, kneeling down and stroking Momo's head.

Momo only purred and rubbed himself against my legs. I sighed and continued to stroke him as he eventually rolled onto his back for a belly rub. I did as he wished and continued to sigh deeply, overtaken by the silence. I'd have asked if Chi could come over, but it was too far of a drive--Kai would probably be back by then--and she seemed content enough with Matsuda and Orihime. I would have to go visit her again before she goes back to the orphanage in a few days.

I pulled my own hair and stood up angrily. I couldn't just mellow around in depression and worry; I would be getting answers and all would be fine. My time left was limited, now that the contract was activated, so I had to make the best of it. I dressed myself, slipped on an apron, turned on the cooking channel on the miniature kitchen television, and brought out needed supplies.

Momo hopped onto the counter and watched me as I studied the instructions from the chef on the television. I smiled at Momo, "Keeping me company while I cook for Kai?" I giggled, ignoring how retarded I probably looked by talking to an animal.

As soon as the actual cooking started, I frantically struggled to keep up with the chef and almost gave up until I realized it was the end of cutting and mixing ingredients. I shoved the recipe into the oven, groaned and sat on the recliner with remnants of the ingredients on my arms and hands. I didn't know how Kai could do it; he was an expert at keeping up with the television.

I sighed, tired, as Momo hopped onto my lap. Whenever Kai would leave, he would be a little more cuddly than usual. It was almost like Momo was a human too; he knew when I was upset or scared. While he curled up on my lap, I reclined the chair and fell asleep, waiting for the timer to go off, and for Kai to return.

    ~*~*~*~*~*~

It was when Momo's tail brushed across my nose and a wet kiss landed on my forehead that I snapped my eyes open. I shot upwards, accidentally headbutting Kai as he was sprawling a blanket over me, "The cake!"

"I got it, I got it already," Kai put his hands on my shoulders. He picked up Momo and put him back on my lap. "Go back to sleep."

I shook my head, "No, I want you to tell me what happened. Why did Akatsuki become a Vampire?"

Kai pursed his lips, "He wrote you a note...but I believe you should wait."

"No," I snapped at him. "I need answers now."

"Just wait for a moment," Kai kissed my head. "You still need to rest a little; you've had a rough day."

I looked down and sighed, "I suppose I could wait," I pursed my lips together. "But tell me Akatsuki is okay."

Kai paused for a moment and nodded, kissing my forehead, "He's okay, in the sense that he's still alive. He's incredibly weak."

"I probably didn't help him any," I sighed again. "I stabbed his neck with the bullet he gave me."

"You possessed every right," Kai smiled weakly at me. "If not, you'd have been killed by him. And it would be something I would never forgive, even if he was merely a newborn Vampire."

"Please don't be so hard on him," I pleaded. "However he ended up this way...I'm sure he didn't mean for it to happen. I'm sure he didn't mean to attack me; I came to his house unannounced."

Kai sighed, "I suppose you're right," he dug into his pocket and pulled out a thick pile of folded-up yellow notebook paper. "His note."

I took it carefully and stared at it; there were probably three sheets all together. It must have been some serious explaining, because Akatsuki wasn't one to write notes, "So this...has all of my answers?"

Kai nodded, "I asked him whatever you wanted to and he answered," he set one hand on my thigh. "But one part may disturb you."

I looked down at the wad of notes and closed my eyes, "Whatever it is, it can't disturb me more than what I've just gone through..."
