• Risu glanced around as the Maras scattered. The dreams were getting closer and closer to winning this war. For the first time, he smiled. Then he heard a whimper from beneath a pile of rubble.

"O my god..." He ran over, praying he was wrong about the noise. But he couldn't deny it. There was Haley, crushed beneath the mound, just barely alive. Risu grunted as he began pulling rocks away, desperate to free her. He pulled her out and laid her head on his lap. "Haley." he whispered, shaking her slightly. "Haley!" He whispered insistently.

The girl opened her eyes. "R...Risu..." She smiled, placing a hand on his cheek. It was cold, and getting colder.

"Haley, please. Don't die..." Risu felt tears begin to fall.

"I won't...Risu. I'll live on...in your heart..." She gave one last smile before a transparency overtook her. She began to disappear, little by little. The last part of her to disappear was her hand, which still felt cold against Risu's skin. Then, suddenly, Risu felt a warmth enter his heart. He felt sad, upset, despair. But he also felt happy, as though a friend who'd gone away for years on end had suddenly come back.

Risu stood, still looking at the spot where he and the Harlequin girl had shared their last moments as a team. As friends. He mouthed 'I love you', and then turned to the west. It was time. The nightmares would end here. Nightmarae would fall, even if Risu died in the process.
