• here’s one of those creatures again. Yukari thought as she took a break from writing her paper that was due the following day, and looked out her window. Then looked at the clock on her computer it was 12:30 in the morning. Ugh it’s so late and I’m not even halfway finished with my paper. Continuing on her break she went down to the kitchen to make some tea to help keep her awake; still thinking about the creature she saw. That is the fifth one I’ve seen in the last month. Careful to clean up her mess she walked back to her room. At about 5:30 she finished typing her paper and went to bed. Just as she started to fall asleep her alarm rang for her to get up to for school, she hit the snooze button and went back to sleep

    *********

Yukari woke up to the sun shining in her eyes, rolling over, she looked at her alarm it was 10:00

“s**t,” she said jumping out of bed, “I overslept! I must’ve turned off my alarm on accident.” She quickly got changed hoping that her parents had not left for work. Unfortunately they had left already so Yukari had had to get her bike and ride the ten blocks to school.

“Nice of you to join us Ms. Ishinu,” Ms. Misato said as Yukari entered the classroom, “just in time to hand in your paper.”

“I’m sorry I’m late. I overslept on accident,” Yukari said heading to her seat. When she arrived in the seat, in the back of the classroom, she opened her bag only to realize that she had forgotten to print her paper. She let out an annoyed sigh thinking, this is not my day. First I over sleep; now it seems I have forgotten my paper on my computer.

“Ok class please pass your papers forward and I will collect them” Ms. Misato said, “then please open your textbooks to page 235.” Yukari opened her textbook but her eyes kept drifting to the window next to her seat and her mind was also drifting, not to what was outside the window now but to what she had seen last night. There was someone or something following that other creature…No it was late maybe I was seeing thing. Yukari thought staring out the window; the rest of the day passed without any extraordinary events.

Outside the school Yukari’s friends were waiting for her.

“First you come late to school, you forget your paper, then you space out all day,” Ichigo said shaking his head, jokingly, “what are we going to do with you, Yukari?” Yukari headed to the bike rack saying “shut up Ichigo I was up late working on my paper then I forgot to print it out.” Arriving at the bike rack, Yukari pushed her hair out of her face and looked up at the sky, which had gotten ominously dark as if it wanted to the emphasize the bad day she was having, along with the storm clouds the wind had picked up which was blowing her hair back into her face. Yukari unlocked her bike, pushed her hair out of her face again, and got on her bike.

“Where are you going we have practice right now,” Tatsuki said before Yukari could leave the campus

“I know,” Yukari said looking at Tatsuki, “but I rushed this morning so I don’t have my stuff for practice. I’m heading home to get them I’ll be right back.” Before Tatsuki could reply Yukari pedaled away. The wind steadily got stronger on her way home. When Yukari arrived home she ran up to her room and grabbed her equipment for the karate team’s practice. Packing it in a bag she got back on her bike glad that the wind was holding up, and rushed back to school. She arrived just as the captain was calling order to the practice. The sparing partners were selected and practice commenced. Three hours later the captain closed the practice with the latest updates of which competitions that they are going to participate in were coming up and how long until they happen. Then he dismissed the team. Outside the wind had picked up more severely.

“Hey Yukari,” Tatsuki said, “We’re going to be hanging at the field by the park why don’t you come along.”

“Sure,” Yukari said not want to go home all that much anyway and on top of that she loved the rain so she wanted to be out in the rain when it started. Yukari and Tatsuki went, in silence, to the field; in it every one of Yukari’s friends were gathered. Just as Yukari was about to cross the street the creature she had seen the previous night landed in the way. Serving to avoid the creature Yukari’s bike slid out form under her, due to the wind and the suddenness of the swerve, dropping her right in front of an on coming car. The driver of the car, not having time to stop, although he tried to, hit Yukari.

“Somebody call an ambulance,” Tatsuki yelled urgently, “Yukari was just hit by a car!” Upon hearing Tatsuki’s yell, Yukari’s and her friends came running from the field to see what was going on. As they were doing so the storm broke, as if the sky were weeping for Yukari. By the time the ambulance arrived it was too late. The impact of the car hitting her and the impact of her fall, which had happened almost at the exact same time, had killed her almost instantly.

While all this was going on a Man appeared out of nowhere unnoticed by the crowd and killed the creature that had triggered the accident. Still unnoticed by the crowd, as if he were invisible he pushed his way to the center of the crowd and stood around as if he were waiting for someone or something to happen.
