• Rain pattered against the roof of Evaleen's house. Valentine's Day was grey as always. Clouds the color of smoke swirled above in the night sky, while thunder rumbled around. Evaleen soaked up the grey aura like a sponge. She was all alone. Again. Just like every other year. Except for the one Valentine's Day when she did have someone to share it with. Someone she can only see in her dreams.. 5 years ago. Evaleen bounced up the cobblestone street, to the tailor's shop. It was a surprisingly warm Winter day that nobody wanted to miss by staying inside. All the ladies giggled at the men when they passed by because that special yet sickening holiday was approaching. Evaleen had to get a new dress for her Auntie Marilyn's party. Evaleen wanted to look extra special, she was after all the age for marriage, so the tailor Mr. Mohenson, wasn't surprised when the young dame stepped inside his shop with a crazed grin. "Why hello Ms. Jeraldeen! I havent seen you here in a while! Eh, I bet all the whiskers on me uncles chin your here for a new dress." "Um, yes..I'm in need of a party gown for my Auntie's party..on Valentines Day.." Mr. Mohenson smiled warmly at her. The poor thing was more nervous than a baby chihauhua. "Well it just so happens I've got a rack of new dresses just your size! I made em' just last week too! I don't mean to brag miss, but they be the finest dresses anyone has made in Scarlet Town.." Evaleen's dimples popped up on her glowing face. "What do ya have?" The tailor lead her towards a rack filled with frilly material. "Pick what ye like." Evaleen laid her dainty hand upon each dress, inspecting each thread, checking every last detail. "Do you have any silk dresses Sir?" Evaleen was afraid that whatever dress she picked for the party wouldn't stand a chance agianst the dresses of the other, richer, ladies at the party. After half a hour, they found the perfect dress. It was red silk, and had layers of french lace underneath. There was also a bright pink bow on the waist made of velvet. Evaleen waltzed proudly to her home. Everything seemed perfect.. End of chapter one.
