• Long ago, when the only known time was day or night, there was a war. This war was larger, and deadlier than any war known today. It has only ever been referred to as “The War,” and has long been forgotten throughout the sand of time. “The War” was between the four most powerful races in the world: The Dragons, the Elementals, the Elves, and the Humans.

The dragons, who were both wise and powerful, was the first race that was attacked. They had been attacked by a foe, that is still unknown, and when they sent a scout out to find out whom, they found an elfish city, in which its name loosely translates into English as Haven. Without thinking, this young dragon razed the entire city, killing every elf she found. Few escaped with their lives.

The elves, were the smartest of the four races, but they choose to use magic to solve their problems, instead of working with their hands. The elves were the second to get involved. After their beloved city was leveled, they became bitter with rage. The once peaceful race no longer felt a love for all living things, but now felt a hatred that could only be cured by blood.

The elementals, who were the eldest and most powerful race, were so enraged, that the other two races were savage enough to fight, that they pulled themselves into “The War,” later claiming that they too, were attacked by an unknown enemy, who they believed to be one of the other races.

The humans, were the last to join the outrage. The sight of the other three races fight to the death had become so common, that people started wagering what little food they had on which race would win the current battle. But, one day, off in the distance was a flash of light, people thought little of it, thinking it was another battle. Moments later an enormous fireball incinerated an entire human village. No one knew until a traveling merchant came looking for the village, but found only ashes. Infuriated, the humans started massacring anything they found from the other three races. As master tacticians, blacksmiths, and architects the humans prevailed faster than any other race.

“The War” continued for thirty long years, over time, the armies had grown small, but the strongest and wisest warriors still survived. Until one day the humans realized that for any of them to survive, there had to bee peace. So the four armies met civilly for the first time in over thirty years. The humans, who were the only ones who truly didn’t care which race ruled the land, were proclaimed the new reigning race.

At the time of this decision sorcerers from all four races combined their power to create a magical crest that represented the four races’ peace. It took nine nights to forge the crest and the sorcerers did not rest until they had finished. It was as if they had stood frozen in time until dawn on the tenth day, when they had finally finished the crest, and at that exact moment, they each had a vision. Of one male, and one female, of each race, being born on the exact same day.
