• One day Jenny, a harvest girl who helps her father around the fields came by and asked, “Daddy when we need help in the fields, why do you always bow down and worship as if there was a god passing by?” “ Well honey the goddess of harvest, Demeter she has been always watching us to see her smile, since she wants us to continue what she has taught us to do.” Replied Jenny’s dad in the simplest form she could tell his daughter. As a couple days passed by the wheat from the fields was ready to make into bread. Just about when the wheat was in the process of becoming bread Jenny’s father turned to her daughter and asked, “Now darling do you know what we do with the very first bread we make?” “Well kind of Daddy the only part I know was that you give it away to someone.” grinned Jenny with accomplishment. “You’re right Jenny we give it away to the goddess we spoke about earlier, Demeter. Well anyway we offer the bread to her because it shows some of her gratitude she has given us.” “But Daddy, what are you doing so much for her if you don’t even know her?” asked Jenny scratching her head. “Well it all depends if you belief in Greek Mythology.” explained her father. As the bread was golden and crisp, Jenny’s father took it out and placed the bread next to a picture of Demeter as an offering. During the next day there was a bad storm outside that no one was able to open the front door. Later the storm was getting worse and worse by the second. Jenny got out of bed to look for her father. “DADDY!! Where are you?!” When Jenny opened up the kitchen blinds she could see her father on the ground crawling for shelter. “DADDY!!! GET INSIDE!!” screamed Jenny with fear. Since the storm was too powerful Jenny’s father wasn’t able to reply. Tears came down Jenny’s cheek, and the tear dripped onto the bread that they had offered Demeter yesterday. Suddenly there was a mysterious miracle that happened that changed the storm. It stopped the hazardous winds and began to rain heavily which made the crops on the field to grow out like crazy. Then there was a sound that came out of no where. “Jenny I’d knew I had faith on you to believe in me. With your faith there is nothing that can’t stop you. I wasn’t the one who stopped it; it was you, my child. With that I bless you with all my heart.” faded the anonymous voice into thin air. “I don’t know but, from my point of view it must have been Demeter who spoke to me.” said Jenny insecurely. Then Jenny heard the door knob turn from the front door. Jenny quickly went to her bedroom to get the pepper spray, just in case it wasn’t her father. Suddenly the door opened up with Jenny running to him for a hug. Luckily Jenny’s father was unharmed from the storm. “See Jenny Greek Gods can do anything if you just believe.” Smiled Jenny’s dad while giving Jenny a kiss on the cheek.
