• Evan opened his eyes. What the hell had just happened? The door opened he’d seen, well her. He’d stepped in front of her then she had pounced on him and bit his neck.

“Arielle it’s not working. He still as the memory in his head!”

“What!” She looked at Evan and shook her head shaking. “No.”

    “What is it Ari?”

“You were like that too you know.”

Suddenly there was pain in Reverie’s eyes.

“We won’t be able to erase his memory, you were in his head for more than 4 hours now, is he trustworthy.”

Reverie smiled, it was radiant. Evan tried to smile back. Than he remembered oh yeah, he was unconscious, right.

“Yes, and from what I’ve seen quite selfless.” She smiled down at him. God, the girls of his dreams right here, and his body won’t move. Poor guy.

“Some humans do know, they’ve created an alternative to blood for vegetarians,” she laughed at that word “I’ve tasted it nasty stuff.” Now she stuck out her tongue.

    “What about the-”

“Treaty? If he tells any one they kill him, that’s how it was with other humans that couldn’t be erased.”

Reverie flinched at the word other. Even though the redhead had said it gently. He felt the feeling in his hand coming back. He raised his arm and took her hand then smiled.

    “I won’t tell.”

They both looked at him astonished. Then Arielle smiled.

“Young man, do you know exactly what we are?”

    “I have a few guesses.”

“He knows, he doesn’t know how serious this is but he knows.”

She squeezed Evans hand. A warm feeling tingled through out his entire body, then he remembered the just lost her husband part. She flinched.

    “Sorry.”

“Ok so let’s get a few things straight about our kind” Arielle plopped herself down on the laze boy “We can go out into the sun but it annoys us, so we have to wear sunglasses, we are like normal humans until the age of 13-23, we suck blood but not enough to kill you, no you will not be turned into one unless we alter you, which by the way is against our law, we can eat food, we digest like a normal human, however, when we mature we have a 6 month fast growing speed and then we do not age again, we are not agitated by garlic, crosses, and/or Christianity, we do celebrate holidays, we follow the same god as you if we chose to have a religion, yes we are all unordinary beautiful, as you see here” she gestured at Reverie “Reverie is one of the prettiest of our kind.”

He sit up, taking all this in. Yes, he decided, I can accept it; I wonder if Reverie can read my mind now, I am anticipating hundreds of ways to get her away from the husband she left.

By the look of it she can. She looked astonished but was giggling rapidly. That’s a good sign. Then something bombs on him.

    “Oh s**t! Work!”

“Wow, you see that Revy, he just found out vampires walk the earth and all he can think about is how late he is getting back to work, what is wrong with the humans of this decade” She turns to me. “I called your workplace, said you came down with something quite serious and are using our bathroom as we speak.”

“Oh great, so trots or flu.”

    Arielle smiled at Reverie.

    “I like this one!”

Then Evan started pulsing. His head grew hot. My meds, he thought. He started wheezing. His head was spinning, his chest hurt.

“Relax, your having a panic attack” then Evan felt a tingly feeling inside his chest were the pain had once been.

Reverie starred at the container on the coffee table. The container had his meds in it. She picked it up.

“Evan, have you ever had a transplant?”

“Yes when I was 8, why?”

    “How old are you?”

“Oh I think you can figure that out for yourself.”

    “20? Don't most transplants only-”

“Last for 10 years? Yeah” Evan regretted cutting off the beautiful singsong voice but continued on with his story, “it wasn't even that good of a match with my donor, and they didn't even think I would last 5. But then you see when I was 12 the heart started to quit and I was rushed to the emergency area. But then this doctor came in, real cold guy, but he gave me these and said come back when you need a refill. They last a whole 2 years before I have to go back, but the there is something real creepy about the doctor he-”

“Never changes,” Arielle looked worried, “Rev give me some of those.”

Reverie looked worried too, and she handed one to Arielle.

She looked at him “Do you mind?”

Evan shook his head. Then it dawned on him.

    “Wait you don't mean-”

“Definitely” Arielle nodded, a disgusted look on her face, “I think I might pay this doctor of yours a visit.”

“Wait-” Reverie looked worried but Arielle cut her off.

“He has enough of it colliding with his blood stream, he's lucky he's still human, taking them since he was 12!”

“So the doctor’s one of you, and I've been taking his blood in the form of pills.”

“Yes, and you'll live much longer than the normal human would Evan, greater good my ******** a**!”

    Reverie nodded. “Henry.”

“Honestly I can't believe him and Malcolm are related.”

    “Uhm, whose Malcolm the-,”

“No he’s not Rev husband, hers is the most powerful of us.”

Great, Evan thought, I’m going to get murdered at the age of twenty. Arielle burst out laughing.
