• Taylor sat up in confusion as the sun began to set. Just the night before she had gone to bed, and now this? What was going on?
The sun was almost hidden behind the trees that she was laying among. The quiet chirps and purrs of the birds and insects fill the area as all the animals settled in for sleep to take over. Taylor stood and looked over the edge of the hill she was apparnently sleeping on. The familier streets of her small town were nowhere to be seen. Only her, the animals, and nature. She remembered a loud siren going off in the middle of the night and seeing the shape of Mars going towards Earth, but the rest, just like her mind, were a blur.
She sat down and began to think. The only signs of life were the purring wilderness and herself, but then, and only then, did she smell smoke. The fire was just beyond the closest trees, in a small fire pit. Over the fire was a buck, cooking over the small fire were also many types of birds. " You're awake." Taylor was startled by the closeness of the voice, but comforted by how familier it was to her. "Tasha, You're here?" Taylor smiled as she turned to hug her best friend.
" You wouldn't wake up for a couple of days." Tasha told Taylor as she gestured to the fire. "But I learned to hunt in those two days." The usually peaceful girl said to Taylor. " When did it happen?" Taylor asked her friend. "I'm guessing you mean the end of civilization and not how I learned to cook without catching myself on fire, correct?" Tasha joked abour her poor cooking skills.
