• Well, I finally came across someone who didn't try to kill me. Or at least, they didn't try it after they reloaded. It had been three days since I'd been sucked into this nightmare, and I had killed around twelve people. If some of them could be called people, even. I had just left another makeshift shelter when I noticed someone moving off to my right. I ducked low and used my new knowledge of fighting to move around behind them. But when I looked again, they were gone. All that was there was a corpse.

I went over to investigate. It was a woman, and it looked like she'd been shot in the head. There was some sort of marking on her head I thought would be where the bullet entered, but something didn't sit right with me. There wasn't enough blood on her face, and as far as I knew it didn't rain here. Then I saw the pistol in her hand, and I whipped my pistol out, even though it was empty. At the same moment she pointed hers at me. I knew somethin' was up.

It felt like an hour, but it was really only a few minutes. We stood there, each aimed to kill, but neither of us pulled the trigger.
"Why don't you shoot?" She asked finally. Her voice was laced with anger and fear.
"Why don't you?" I responded coolly, but inside I was terrified. Then we came to the same conclusion at the same time.
"You're empty, aren't you?" She asked. I nodded.
"You are too." I grabbed her gun with my other hand and pointed it down, putting my pistol away. We still stood there watching one another.
"Why not just use your other guns and kill me?" She asked at length. I posed much the same question to her wordlessly, eying her high powered sniper rifle.
"I don't shoot unless I'm shot at." I answered, also at length.
"So, you fight in defense?" She asked.
"...Yes..." I answered. I held out my hand to help her up. She took it cautiously, and he each stood, each staring into the other's eyes, searching for hostility. I took a step back and looked around, in case anyone else was near.
"So, you're not going to kill me?" She asked.
"Yeah. I see no reason to. you've done no wrong by me." I said, and she grabbed her rifle. I tensed, but she just threw the strap over her arm.
"We need to find a safer place to talk." She said, looking around. I nodded, and led the way back to my old shelter.
