• Chapter #3: WELL, THERE GOES
    OUR SECERET! THANK YOU DANNY!

The next day I awoke in cold sweat. I had an awful dream! I dreamt that we were in the woods goofing around, when out of no where, Brendan showed up and started to attack us! It seemed to real! Today was Sunday. My mom made us go to church every Sunday morning! It sucked! There was nothing to do! One time Chris got so bored that he fell asleep. That was a big mistake! While the preacher was praying, Chris started snoring. The whole church turned our way.
The little kids were laughing and the adults were looked at us with evil glances. I had to elbow him in his side to make him wake up. When he did though he fell out of the pew. He quickly got up and dusted his shirt off. He motioned for people to go ahead and pray, so they did. Now when we go there the people always look at us funny. Chris just ignores them though.
Today was going to be especially boring though. Daniel and Lee couldn’t come because their mom and dad were taking them out to see their grandmother and they wouldn’t be back till later today. The other bad part was that Nathan got to bring Monica! She was so annoying! She acted like a little goody-goody! Dad couldn’t go either because of his injuries.
Once the preacher started preaching we all got quiet and listened. As he spoke I started to day dream about all the ways I could kill Brendan. That wasn’t a very appropriate thing to be thinking but it sure was fun! I wondered why all of his brothers didn't attack us? Why had his one brother looked scared off us?
The service lasted an hour and a half! When it was over Chris and I ran out of those doors! Nathan, Monica and Mom were talking to all their friends. We had no desire to stick around though! We hopped in my car and took off down the road.
When we got home Lee and Nathan were there talking to my dad. He was much better than he had been a day ago, but he was still healing.
“When did you guys get here?” Chris asked Lee as he unbuttoned his dress shirt and put it in the washer.
“We got here about ten minutes ago,” Lee said, “Now could you go put a shirt on! Jezz!” Chris walked up to his bedroom and got a shirt. He came back down and grabbed a seat on the floor.
“Happy now?” he asked Lee. Lee nodded his head and looked over at me.
“Where’s your brother at?” he asked.
“They’re still at church. We left as soon as it ended,” I said as I walked up to my room to change out of my church clothes. Mom always made me wear very nice clothes to church. I don’t get it though. What if the vampires are on the loose and I morph? The clothes wouldn’t be that great looking after that! Of course I can never tell her that. She also doesn’t know about us being werewolves. It’s kind of hard to keep it from her, but we manage.
I ran back down the stairs after changing and sat on the ground. Just then Nathan came in the door holding Monica’s hand. We all looked up at them.
“Hi, guys!” she said cheerfully, “What are you doing?”
“Ummmm…..well, we were just about to leave and go to the park,” I said looking at Daniel. I lied. I just wanted to get away from her.
“Yeah, we were just leaving,” Daniel agreed.
“That sounds like fun! Do you mind if we come?” she asked. Nathan gave me a quick glance and mouthed the words, “Say yes or you will die!”
“Sure….why not?” I said trying to sound excited. I failed miserably.
“Okay! Come on Nathan!” she said as he pulled on his shirt. Daniel asked Chris if he wanted to come. He said that he would. Daniel grabbed my keys off the counter and ran to my car. He plopped down in the driver’s seat and started the car. I really didn't like him driving. After all he didn't have a license; well he was too young to have one.
Nathan and Monica followed us in his car. When we got there it wasn’t even open yet. Daniel, Chris, and I jumped out of the car and headed towards the gate. Daniel began to jump over it when we heard someone loudly clear their throat. It was Monica.
“Shouldn’t we wait for it to open?” she asked. It really annoyed me that she didn't know about us. That would make life a lot easier on us.
“Yeah, we should wait till it opens guys,” Nathan said trying to act all goody.
“But we always do this….it’s not like anyone will see us!” Daniel said, protesting against them.
“What do you mean? You guys just go around breaking the law?” she asked. She looked al little concerned.
“Well …no. We don’t do this all the time, just sometimes. It’s not like anyone is going to tell us to leave. They would have to be dumb to pick a fight with a were…,” Daniel began to say that one word. That word that would ruin our secret that we had been keeping for so many years. I quickly elbowed him in his side.
“Not like they would pick a fight with what?” she said confused. She tilted her head and looked at Nathan.
“I meant to say that they would be stupid to pick a fight with me!” Daniel said trying to cover up his mistake, “Yeah, that’s what I meant to say!”
“Daniel….,” she said in an unconvinced voice. Daniel looked at Monica and then back at us. He nodded his head.
“Come with us,” he said. We walked back to our cars and hopped in. We drove home. When we got there we found my dad on the couch. “Dad,” Nathan began, “We have a favor to ask of you.”
“What is it boy?” he asked as he sat up.
“Well, Daniel was talking and accidentally said something he wasn’t supposed to say,” he said as he glared at Daniel. Dad did the same.
“Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! I’m so sorry!” he said.
“It’s okay. Come girl sit down,” Dad said to Monica as he patted a spot next to him on the couch. She hesitated a bit then sat down next to him. “See we are not like other families. We have something special about us. You might not believe us, but please try. We are werewolves,” he said calmly.
I so wish I had a video camera with me at that moment! Monica’s eyes got super huge and her mouth flew open. She looked at Nathan and then around the room at all of us. “Uhh…surprise!” Daniel said throwing his hands in the air. This stuff was priceless!
    “Y-y-y-you a-a-re j-j-joking r-r-right?” she asked looking at Nathan.
“No, sadly this is the truth,” he said lowering his head, “I’m so sorry. If you want to leave I won’t stop you.”
“No!” she said. Well, that was a shocker! I was hoping that she would run out the door crying or something, but she didn't. “I want to stay!”
“You’re not scared?” Lee asked in a surprised voice.
“Yes, I am very scared, but also very excited,” she said as she got up and stood by the couch. What the freak was this girl doing?
“What’s wrong with you?” Chris asked, “You’re in a house full of werewolves and you are not running around in terror or anything! You are weird!”
“Look whose talking pup boy! I’m actually very interested! This is so cool! My boyfriend and his family are werewolves! How many people on Earth can say that?”
“Not that many,” I said, “But you can not tell anyone. Not even our mom!”
    “She doesn’t know?”
“No, she doesn’t know and that is how it has to stay,” Dad said
“Whatever you say! Wow! I can’t believe this!”
“Well, believe it sister,” I said.
“Can I see you in wolf form?” she asked Nathan. He looked a little surprised.
“I guess,” he said, “You guys want to show her?” We all headed outside. Nathan morphed first. We saw his body transform. His nose extended into a snout and his limbs got even more muscular than they already were. He was covered in midnight, black, hair. He slowly walked over to Monica and bowed his head down. She brushed her hand threw his hair with a huge grin on her face.
“Will you be okay here if we all change?” I asked.
    “Yeah!” she said.
“Watch this!” Daniel yelled. We all looked at him. He had the biggest smile on his face. He slowly backed up away from us. As soon as he was about one-hundred fifty feet away he began to run towards us. When he got close he jumped up in the air and spun around. While he was spinning he morphed, so when his feet hit the ground he was in wolf, standing right in front of Monica.
“Show off!” I yelled as I got ready to do the same thing. Chris did it at the same time I did so we ended up hitting each other while we were in the air.
“You guys are so awesome!” Monica yelled. Lee was the only one not morphed. He looked a little mad. I could understand why. He probably couldn’t believe that the secret our kind had been keeping for centuries was just ruined in a half hour! I looked at him and nodded my head motioning him to come on. He slowly morphed into wolf form.
We stayed outside for a long time. Monica was giving us yes and no questions about our lives. That was the bad thing about being in wolf form. Humans aren’t able to understand you. Only members of your pack can. After a while though I got hungry. I changed back into human form and went into the house. Daniel followed me. “This is weird,” he said as he grabbed a ham and cheese sandwich out of the refrigerator.
    “What’s weird?” I asked.
“Monica knowing about us. I mean, your mom doesn’t even know. My parents don’t even know. I think she might be the only mortal to ever know our secret.”
“It is really weird, but she was going to find out sooner or later. We were just all hoping that it would be later,” I said.
“Sorry about telling her. I just wasn’t thinking.”
“You’re forgiven!” I said as I walked back outside with a sandwich in my hand. Everybody seemed to be back in human form. Lee and Chris were fighting with each other, on the ground, and Monica and Nathan were sitting on our porch. Monica was snuggling against his arm. You would think that she would keep her distance from him, considering he was a werewolf, but she seemed closer to him now than ever before.
Danny and I grabbed a seat across from them and looked curiously at Monica. She looked so happy and full of joy. I tell you what if I was a human and my boyfriend had just told me that he was a mythical creature I would not be that happy!
“You guys should really tell your mom about this,” she said as she looked over at me.
“She probably wouldn’t take the news as well as you did,” I explained, “If she did not take it well how do you think my dad would feel?”
“Oh, I guess your right…..it would suck if she didn't take it well,” she began, “Can I tell my sister? She is your best friend and she probably will take it as well as I did! Oh, please! Can I?”
“Umm….” was all I could say at that moment. I had completely forgotten about Lily! She was Monica’s little sister and has also been my friend since the beginning of the year. We were actually the ones that helped Monica and Nathan get together. Nathan just looked at me. I wish he would talk to his girlfriend! She was really getting on my nerves!
“We can’t just trust anyone with our secret. What if she doesn’t take it well? We can’t take the chance of her telling everybody,” Nathan said. Monica looked a little upset.
“I’ll make her swear on the Holy Bible that she won’t tell,” Monica said as she gave Nathan a puppy dog face, “Please?”
“I can’t tell you if you can or cant. Go ask my dad. He is our leader. He will tell you if it is alright,” Nathan answered. I can’t believe he fell for the puppy dog face! Monica got out of her chair and gave him a big kiss on the cheek and went to go find Dad.
“Wow, before you know it everybody on earth is going to know our secret!” Daniel complained as he took a large bit of his sandwich.
“You’re the one that told her in the first place!” Nathan exclaimed, “Don’t blame this on any of us!” Daniel slouched in his chair and stuck his tongue out at him. A couple seconds later Monica came back all full of joy.
“He said I could!” she screamed as she pulled out her phone and dialed Lily’s number. She told her to get over to my house as soon as she could.
About an hour later there was a knock at the front door. Chris answered it. Lily was a good of friends with him as she was with me. He led her to the backyard where we all were and pulled a chair out for her. “Oh, I’m good! I rather stand!” she said refusing to sit in the chair.
“Trust me. You are going to have to sit down for this news,” Chris said. She sat down in the chair and pulled it up to the table.
“So what’s up guys?” she asked. We all just looked at her for a few seconds then Daniel began to speak. She had met him before, but she didn't know him very well.
“Listen, before I begin I want you to swear that you wont tell a soul,” he said. She nodded her head and he continued on. “Well, we aren’t who you think we are. We are….well, it’s going to sound a bit weird, but we are werewolves. We told your sister about it and she insisted that we tell you. If you don’t believe us we will be glad to show you.”
She looked around with a big smile on her face. “You mean I have been hanging out with werewolves all year! How awesome!”
“Wow, you took that better than I expected you to,” I said.
“Wow! Wow! Wow! My best friend is a mythical creature! Along with her cousins and brothers! Can you guys show me?” she asked. I nodded my head and stepped of f the porch. Daniel followed me. We waited a couple minutes, looked at each other, and then we phased. I saw her mouth drop open. She walked over to us and patted Daniel on the head. “WOW!” she said again.
Monica stepped out to join her. “Isn’t it so cool?”
“Yeah!” she said still petting Daniel’s head, “You’re a pretty cute doggy!” she teased. Daniel gave out a hardy chuckle. It scared her a little bit, but she was okay. That day all we did was sit around and answer questions that Monica and Lily had.
It did kind of suck that now two mortal humans knew our secret, but it was kind of cool too!
