• Chapter 2

Cara, Naomi and Zach decided to go to the mall so when school was finished, they quickly packed their things and went to the parking lot to Zach's car. Suddenly, Cara felt a burdensome feeling and before she could turn around, someone hugged her from behind, clinging to her neck.

"Cousin Caraaaaaaaaaaaaaaa," squealed the little voice that sent a chill up Cara's spine.

"Um, Helen...you are choking me..." Cara said, patting Helen's hand then pulling it off her neck as Helen giggled again.

Helen was just the opposite in many ways then Cara. Cara was into the dark Goth whereas Helen liked anything pink and cute, which drove Cara crazy since she despised anything pink or cute. She was seven years younger than Cara and so she'd babysat her when here Uncle Fred and Aunt Nora needed. It almost gave Cara a heart attack the first time she saw Helen's room full of dolls and teddy bears and worse, totally, glaringly pink. She'd tried to get Helen to add something black or anything withOUT pink but failed miserably. If it wasn't a good paying job, she wouldn't do it and the adults thought it was good for Helen to have a friend other than her toys. She had to oblige since her parents basically forced her into it.

"Cousin?" Naomi and Zach both said at the same time, "You two are related??"

"Uh huh," replied Helen, handing her cell phone to Cara. "My mom wants to talk with you."

"Hello, Aunt Nora? What do you mean I have to take care of Helen today? Noooo, I am going out with my friends...Okay, fifty bucks? You promise, right? Alright," Cara said, closing the cell phone and giving it back to Helen. "Ughh guys, I have to go home with Helen."

"What? Don't ditch us! Our plan was to have fun today!" said Naomi, not liking when things didn't go as planned. "How about you bring her along? You want to come with, Helen? We'll have ice cream and some fun!"

Helen looked up to Cara then at Naomi, who nodded and said she wouldn't mind. Helen grinned and said yes and they all got into the car.

"Helen, did your mom leave you alone to wait for us?" she asked, knowing that the secondary school ended earlier than theirs.

"No, she waited with me until she saw you and your friends come out then she told me to go with you today and drove off," Helen replied.

It was weird that her Aunt Nora could trace where she or any person was or when items went missing, she knew where to find them.

Cara groaned as she watched the scenery pass by outside the car window as Naomi asked Helen question after question, about her favorite ice cream and favorite color and favorite music and other stuff.

"Hey, isn't there a doll exhibition at the museum near the mall going on now?" Naomi asked, surprising Cara when she said it.

"You know i don't like that stuff," Cara answered, getting the feeling this was going to be one hell journey today.

"Oh come on, I'm sure there will be something dark for you there too. Might find some goth dolls," Naomi said happily.

"I doubt it," Cara said, wanting to pinch Naomi.

"Can we see it? Please Cousin Cara," Helen said, turning to her with puppy eyes.

"Ughh, we'll go but AFTER the mall," Cara said, not happy but unable to handle the puppy eyed look on Helen's face.

Helen and Naomi said "Yay!" at the same time as she heard Zach groan, thinking at least she wouldn't have to suffer alone.
