• Chapter 2: Subata

Arreth groaned and his bones ached. Last night he was forced to sleep on a log, for he had gotten lost. He tied his long hair that hung to his feet into a braid. Cracks and pops were made as he streched and got to his feet. Reaching for his sword, he nearly stumbled and started cursing loudly. "You god-forsaken LOG!!" He started thrashing at the mossy trunk and cursed more. All that was left was neatly sliced pieces of bark. The hunter sighed and put his sword back inside it's case and slung it behind his back. Slipped his sandles on, and began to walk west. There, there would have to be civilization, Arreth thought.

The summer sun started to make it's way into the sky and birds twittered through the branches. Squirrels could be herd tapping trees, simutaniuosly with the woodpeckers.
... Along with Arreth's empty stomach.
He groaned again and threw his pack down. "Again, I'm lost! I've been walking straight for what feels like miles and my feet are screaming!!" He threw down his pack and searched for food.
    There was no food.

His hands clenched tightly and he began to curse rappidly at anything that was in his view. He kicked his sword's case which in reply, made quick slicing sounds. "I don't GIVE a crap if you haven't been cleaned in days! I don't give a crap about ANYTHING that's made this day so-" He tried calming himself and said in a sarcastic tone, "so AMAZINGLY fabulous..."
Now he realised he was thirsty. He searched around for a stream, and of course, it was dried up. He held his face in his hands.
He was silent for a time and suddenly, he began a mumbled screaming.
"&#@#G*$$!!" He fell to his knees and continued.

In the shadows, to piercing yellow eyes glowed. Then another pair opened that was lower on the ground and seemed to sway. "Arreth, the famous and amazing bounty hunter is lost and hopeless?"
Arreth looked up from his hands and saw a tall female figure, who was covered in a beautiful shine of tan fur, but dressed causally, non the less. Two blood red trails ran down her piercing cat like eyes. Obviously markings. His mouth opened as she moved a tuff of hair on her forehead to the side and he saw a gleeming red orb imbedded in her skull.
Her two rabbit ears twitched and she snickered. "You can't believe it, huh?"
Arreth crawled backwards and gasped. Her tail had an odd snake-like head at the end of it and it grinned at him. "You're one of the disendents of the god Jinx! I thought their race was extinct!!" 0

She smiled a toothy grin. "Naw, buddy. There's still lots of us around. But I won't tell you where." She put her clawed finger against her lips, as if she told a secret. "Now guess who's a little lost boy?" She walked to him and he tried crawling back again, but stumbled over his sword. "You are! Good boy! Yes!" She laughed and offered a hand.

    He stared at it.

"I'm Subata, and I have an offer for you. If I get you to civilization, then will you agree to go with me on a little journey?"
He looked up at her and sighed, what other choice did he have?

She grinned even wider and he shuddered. They shook hands and she pulled him up.
"Now, where are we going?" He picked up his pack.
Subata suddenly leaped off and hollared, "Follow me!"

He frowned and chased off after her. I bet I'll regret this sooo much when I'm done with her...
