• the warrior & the beast
It was dusk when the fire spewed from the mountaintop and the beast of fell fire descended onto the village, and left before dawn. For a fortnight the beast ravaged the village killing all caught in its horrid stare. The creatureshowed no inkling of compassion, killing women and men, old and young. Many have said in those dark days the wailings of mothers that lost their children to the maw of the beast.
None stood against the beast and lived. From lands near and far heros challenged the beast and all shared the same fate the fiery jaws of the beast. Until... One day at dawn, high on the ridge, appeared a warrior covered in cloak that draped from his shoulders to the ground appered none remember when the warrior came to their village only that on that heaven and hell opened their full fury.
The battle began at dusk when fire filled the sky and the beast came upon the town, the warrior standing in the midst of the town square waiting for the beast. The hero and beast alike locked gazes without a sound as the villagers watched on in quiet horror. The beast moves first rushing the warrior in hopes to crush the formidable foe in one swoop, but without hesitation the hero jumps to the sky leaving the cloak on the ground, revealing armour of purest ivory, hair of silken gold, and eyes the hue of the endless sky. The hero, now revealed showed himself to be a warrior sent from from heaven to vanquish the horrid beast.
Heaven's warrior lunges at the beast hoping to kill it and ease the villages suffering, but is met with the jaws of the beast. The jaws snap shut with a deafening crunch only to feel the blade of the warrior piercing into the roof of its mouth. The hero, in the jaws of the creature, fought to free himself. For what seemed like an eternity, the hero and the beast struggled for an advantage, the hero, freedom from the jaws, the beast, to devour that which stood in betweenit and its bloody feast. Suddenly the hero lets go of his sword and jumps out of the mouth before it snapped shut not a second after the hero came upon the ground.
The warrior now defensless kneels and prays to god on high to welcome back into the kingdom of heaven. The beast meanwhile licks his lips, anticipating the delicious meal it was going to partake in. It rears and charges the hero. The hero sits not moving for an instant waiting for his inevitable end. As the sun rises to the east, the beast is upon him and lifts him up, ready to devour him when suddenly the great fell beast lets out gutteral roar and falls to the ground ripping at it''s skin which has become engulfed in it's own fire. The creature dies with a fit and burns into ash upon the ground.
The villagers rush to the square yelling jubilant cries and crowd around the hero ready to attack him with praise, but they never get a chance the hero without a sound leaves without seeking any reperations or rewards he walks silently to the east torwards the sun and is lost to sight to the villagers. Thus ends the story of the hero and the beast.
