• Chapter 7

When we got to the clubhouse, it was already dusk and it looked pretty nasty out. In less than an hour, a powerful storm blew in. We all decided to stay at the clubhouse for the night.
We stayed up until about 12 and then we fell fast asleep.

There was a loud growl that broke my dreams. I looked around to find that I wasn't the only one who had just been woken. Catherine looked a little scared and I wondered why. Then, my question was answered.
There was an even louder growl than the one before. I looked around again to see Jake and Catherine staring at me.
    "What?" I asked confused.
They smiled at me and I realized what they were asking.
"Oh, no! I am not going out there in that pouring rain!" I yelled standing up.
"What? You scared?" asked Jake smiling.
Another growl sounded closer than before.
"No! I'm not afraid of what's out there!" I lied. I walked to the entrance, took a deap breath, and walked into the rain.
More loud growls lead me to where they were coming from. I hid behind a giant boulder and saw three shadows glancing off a nearby rock. I slowly peeked around the rock to see the culprits and gasped.
I ran back to the cave as fast as I could. Catherine and Jake were surprised when I dragged them out. They kept asking me what was wrong, but I just kept saying 'You'll see!'.
I lead them back to the boulder and they peered around to see who or what they were. They gasped and ran over to the culprits.
    I smiled.
It was the animals from our dreams.

    Chapter 8:

"We are the Mythics," said the eagle in a deep voice, but still very human.
    We all stared in aw.
"So it was true! The rumor of three Mythics being born?" Catherine asked.
"Yes. We could change into humans if you would prefer. I think animals are still too shocking for you," said the cat with a slight purr in her voice.
"You can turn to humans?" I asked confused.
"Yes. Just watch," said the lizard.
We watched as they all transformed into teenagers of the same age. The lizard turned into a boy the same hieght as me with long blonde hair and grey eyes. He wore slacks and a sleeveless t-shirt. The cat turned into a girl slightly shorter than Catherine. She had long, silver hair that reached all the way down to her knees. She wore a long, icy blue dress. The eagle turned into a boy a few inches taller than me with long, red hair and pitch black eyes. He wore a muscle shirt and shorts.
    "Wow!" I said in shock.
After a few seconds of silence, Catherine smiled. "Now that's more like it!"
The blonde guy laughed and said,"Yeah. We fit in more don't we."
We all laughed for a minute.
Then, the girl said,"Back to business. My full name is Bralistus, but seeing as how that's a mouthful, just call me Bral."
"And my name is Garstilis, and you all can call me Gib," said the blonde boy.
"My name is Sythonimos, but I'd prefer if you called me Syth. Much easier," said the boy with red hair. "We came because you are the chosen. Correct?"
After a few seconds of silence, Syth sighed. "You had dreams of us?"
"Oh, yeah, we did!" I said.
"That means that you are destined to me our masters," said Syth calmly.
We looked at each other for a minute, then burst out laughing.
"You have got to be kidding me! How could we be your masters! And I thought I was a joker!" I said while laughing.
"This is no joke. If you had the dream, you are destined. All of them feel the same when first told," said Bral and nodded.
We stopped laughing and I said,"Group meeting."
We stepped away and talked with each other for a minute. Finally, we turned back and I said,"Sure, we believe you."
"Good. We must leave now, but will come again tomorrow."

    Chapter 9:

So every day for the next week and a half, we were visited by the Mythics. Every night we would get more information about being their masters. One night, they told us to go to City Hall the next morning.
    "Sure. Why?" I asked.
"We can't tell you. Just trust us and go," said Syth.
So when the next morning arrived, we walked to City Hall in the center of Latus City. We saw a crowd of people in the front, and a large stage.
I walked over to a man that was obviously very rich. I asked him what this was about, and he answered,"What do you care, boy!"
I decided that asking was a bad idea. Later, I overheard a conversation between a couple.
The mans asked his wife,"So what exactly is this ceremony for?"
"Oh, I don't know! But I did hear something about those new Mythics."
I sighed. No use trying to find information here. Nobody knows what this is about.
We found a table near the back of the large yard and waited for about 10 minutes.
Then, the mayor walked onto the stage and cleared his throat.
"I welcome you all here today for this special event. The mythics have chosen and we will begin the ceremony imediately." He walked off the stage and handed the microphone to someone behind the stage. Then, three people walked onto the stage. We instantly recognized them as Syth, Gib, and Bral in there human form.
When they were at the center of the stage, Syth began his speech.
"We three, the last of the dearest Mythics, have decided our masters."
Syth handed the microphone to Bral and she said,"I have chosen Catherine Bayle as my master."
There was some polite clapping and the microphone was handed to Gib. "I have chosen Jake Guist." There was some murmering in the crowd, but the rest clapped there hands.
Then, Syth said,"And I have chosen Christopher Statis as my master." There was an uproar in the crowd. Ofcourse, this was never expected.
Over the noise Syth said,"Please come to the stage."
We weaved our way through and found our way to the stage. I was angered by all the insults coming at us through the whole crowd. When I reached the stage I jumped up onto it and turned around. With an angry glare, I shouted,"SHUT UP!"
The crowd fell silent. I walked over to Syth.
He smiled at me, and said,"And that is why I chose you."
I smiled back and we laughed.
Bral asked,"Have any of you seen a Mythic ceremony?"
We shook our heads. She smiled. "You'll be surprised."
We stood infront of our Mythic and the ceremony began.
All three Mythics lowered their eyes to the ground. When their eyes finally rose, they were glowing. Syth's were an orange color that matched my own eyes. We all gaped at the site. The eyes burned through us.
Syth was slowly inching toward me and started muttering incoherently in such a low voice, it startled me.
As I sank deaper into his eyes, I felt an exceptional pain in my right shoulder.
I tried to shriek in pain, but I was paralyzed with pain. The edges of my vision blurred and I looked into Syth's soothing eyes one last time. I seemed to fall into them and when I hit the surface, everything went black.

    Chapter 10:

I opened my eyes. The first thing I noticed was an unbearable pain in my shoulder. I looked down at the spot where it burned. There was a mark there that looked like a tattoo, but was slightly different.
I looked around to find Catherine and Jake nearby. I tried to sit up, but the pain in my shoulder made me lay back down. I sat there staring up at the sealing. When the pain in my shoulder ceased slightly, I attempted to sit up again. This time, the pain was bearable, so I stood up and walked of to Catherine. She had a similar mark on her shoulder. Then, I walked over the Jake. He was the same.
Finally, I noticed Syth in his human form sitting in a dark corner of the room. "How do you feel?"
"How do I feel? How do I feel?!? After you scorch my arm, all you can say is 'How do you feel?"
Syth smiled. "I knew you'd feel that way. Just know that it was necesary to do that in order for you to be my master."
I stared angrily at him, then sighed. "Fine."
In a couple of minutes, Catherine and Jake woke up.
Syth stood up and stretched. "The pain should go away in a few hours."
He walked over to the door and said,"The others are waiting outside," before he shut it behind him.
We got dressed and walked out into the hallway. Bral and Gib were sitting at a table playing cards.
Bral looked up and smiled. "Morning, sleepy heads!"
Catherine noticed something incredibly important and asked,"What time is it?"
Gib looked at his newly acquired watch and said,"9:22. Why?"
She ran over to her already packed backpack. "We're late for school!"
We hurried out the door. I noticed that the Mythics were following us and said, "Oh, no you don't! You are not coming to school with us!"
Catherine pulled me along. "I don't care! Come if you want to! Just don't make me late!"
All three Mythics quickly tranformed back into animals and followed. It took us almost 10 minutes to get to the front doors. When we arrived, we crashed through the doors and into the ghostly hallways.

    Chapter 11:

We ran through the hallways and then split up at the center of the building.
"See you guys in class," I said and ran in the opposite direction. I passed a couple of classes full of teenagers. A couple of them say me and watched me fly through the halls.
When I finally reached my locker, I grabbed my books and rushed into Mr. Dulow's class farther down the hall.
Mr. Dulow stood in the front of the room holding a large text book. He stared at me in stunned silence as his mind comprehended what was happening. Finally, he realized the situation and yelled,"Mr. Statis! I would prefer if you-"
Then, he finally noticed Syth perched on my shoulder. His eyes grew and he fell into another stunned silence.
"I am so sorry, your majesty! Please forgive my rude behavior!" he stuttered, pulling his eyes to the ground. He almost looked like a kid caught with his hands in the cookie jar.
I was about to answer when Syth said,"It is all right, young one."
I realized quickly that I was still Chris, I just had an 'majestic' animal on my shoulder now.
I walked to the back of the room and took my seat. Pairs of eyes followed me all the way down the aisle.
"Shall we begin?" asked Mr. Dulow in a nicer tone than usual.
Geez. This is going to be a long day.
All through class, I daydreamed of all the possibilities of being a 'master' of a Mythic. Now I had more power than I used to. Mr. Dulow still treated me like... well me, but everyone else treated me like royalty.
    I didn't like it.
Suddenly, there was a loud thud on my desk.
I opened my eyes. Whoops. Apperently, I fell asleep. Again.
"Christopher. Go to the office," Mr. Dulow said with a smirk.
    "What? But-"
"No argueing, Mr. Statis. Go to the office."
I glared at him in hatred. Suddenly, something sparked within me and my skin tingled with power. My eyes glowed like embers from a fire. My hand rose out of instinct and a flame shot out through my fingers.
I'm happy to say, they hit Mr. Dulow square in the back of the head. Mr. Dulow jumped at the heat and rushed to put it out. A few students got up and helped with the growing fire. The rest just laughed their heads off. I was one of them.
After the fire was safetly extinguished. Mr. Dulow walked to the back of the classroom, grabbed me by the ear, and pulled me out the door and down the hall. We arrived at the office and burst through the principal doors.
Mr. Garcia was talking on the phone at his desk. "Okay...I'll have to call you back in a bit...Yes...Okay...Yeah, I'll see you then...okay...Bye." He hung up the phone and looked up. "Yes?"
Mr. Dulow walked over the Mr. Garcia-still holding my ear- and said,"Mr. Statis here set my head on fire!"
Mr. Garcia nodded. "Yes. I can see that," he said pointing to Mr. Dulow's head. What once was a nearly-bald head was now a completely bald head.
I burst out laughing and Mr. Garcia chuckled slightly until Mr. Dulow started yelling at us to stop.
After composing himself again, Mr. Garcia said,"Mr. Dulow, let go of Mr. Statis's ear. You do not understand."
    "But-"
    "Mr. Dulow!" belowed Mr. Garcia.
"Fine!" he said and let me go. "But you will pay for what you've done!"
"I plan on it!" I said with a wide, innocent smile. I turned and walked out the door.
    I wonder what I did.
A voice sounded in my head. It's your power.
    Syth!
    Yes, it's me.
    What do you mean power?

I heard a sigh. When you attach to your Mythic, you develop a power. The type of power is based on your personality and the strength of your power is determined by how much your body can take.
    Oh, cool!
Be careful, though. These powers have secrets that even us Mythics do not know about. Also if you push yourself too hard, your body will die and your spirit will wonder a zone called the Mythisis for all eternity. Once you visit Mythisis, you can never return to Earth ever again.
Okay! I'll remember that. Now when can I start training?
You didn't hear a word I said, did you?
    Nope!

    Syth sighed.
I walked out the main office rubbing my sore ear and walked straight into Catherine.
