• (Indent)Rose felt her body glide effortlessly across the stage, her stocking-covered toes barely touching the polished wooden boards. She absolutely loved dancing, especially if it was for a crowd as lively as this one. They followed her every movement with intent eyes, and when she preformed a particularly difficult twirl or jump, they applauded and laughed aloud. Being the true performer she was, she did her best to ignore the lights beating down relentlessly on the stage and instead focused on the folds of her dress swirling around her body.
(Indent)Suddenly and unexpectedly, there was a pause in the music, and Rose froze in place. Lilly, the second dancer, and Rose's polar opposite daintily tiptoed onto the stage. They were normally chosen to dance together because of their contrasting color schemes. Lilly had fair skin, light as the petals of a lilly, while Rose sported chocolate-colored skin. Lilly owned a long waterfall of brightest blond hair, and Rose had black curls that bounced with each movement of her dance.
(Indent)Blue eyes met brown for the split-second break between musical scores and both pairs narrowed slightly, warning the other not to slip up. As the music started up again, both dancers began a very complicated series of steps, each trying to out-do the other, while still sticking the the choreography they had been given. Then... disaster struck.
(Indent)The assembled crowd gasped as Rose went into a jump, appeared to get her foot tangled in her own dress, and fell down to the stage in a tangled heap.
(Indent)"Oh, drat." A voice from above the stage murmured, and as if that were the cue, the lights on the house went up.
(Indent)The crowd burst into laughter and promptly began to fall over themselves as Lilly sat down on stage, and a hand reached down to help Rose.
(Indent)Damian lifted his favorite marionette off of the makeshift stage, and began to untangle her strings and various limbs. The crowd of toddlers was now laughing uproariously, thinking the dancer tripping over her own strings was the perfect ending for the show.
