• They were walking along the street casually talking and laughing like good friends often do when they are having a good time. Bellies full from the lunch they just had they were headed back to work, back to their jobs slaving away.
Suddenly she screamed loudly clutching her stomach as she crumpled to the ground. Then the gun shot is heard. It is like everything is going in slow motion. The girl reaches down and grabs her unconscious friend and pulls her behind a minivan that is parked on the street. She looks around her and realizes that they were unfortunate to get stuck in the middle of a large gun fight. Everywhere she looked there were people shooting guns every direction.
How could this happen she thought desperately while looking every direction for a way out of this mess. Looking down again at her friend laying there in a growing pool of her own blood, getting paler by the second, she knew she had to act now.
Looking inside the van she saw that there were still keys in the ignition. Perfect, she thought grabbing her friend and pulling her into the van as best as she could. Maybe they shouldn’t have had that last piece of pie she thought laughing at her self and then wondering how she could be thinking such a thing at a time like this.
Sitting in the driver’s seat she started the van and began to drive away when she felt a burning like never before in her right leg. Looking down at the growing spot of blood she knew that she had been hit too. How was she going to drive with her leg like this, she couldn’t make her leg work enough to press the gas petal. Thinking quickly she pressed as hard as she could with her left foot on the gas, feeling awkward while undoing her belt to make a tourniquet around her leg to help stop the bleeding, she had to get her friend to the hospital before she lost her forever.
Starting to feel a little dizzy she began to sing to herself to help keep her alert enough to dodge in and out of the growing traffic, all these spectators, what are they thinking, 2 stray bullets have already been found what about the rest.
Finally after what seemed like an eternity she pulled into the bustling hospital, it seemed that they were not the only bystanders that had been shot. Parking on the curb as out of the way but as close as possible she hopped around to the other side of the car and opened the door.
Unable to put any weight on her leg she found pulling her friends bleeding body around to be much more difficult. Pulling hard on her arm she heard a soft moan, it appeared that all the moving around was actually making the pain her friend was in worse, even though she was completely unconscious.
A security guard had spotted them and ran over to help them out. Scooping up Sarah in his arms he told Anne to lean on him and helped het them into the hospital waiting room. Inside the normally calm and sterile waiting room they found only turmoil, bleeding broken people sprawled everywhere.
How was anything going to be made better like this. Suddenly Sarah gave a little sigh and a final shudder and Anne knew that there was nothing left she could for her sister and life long friend. The security guard who was holding her looked more shocked then anything at the fact that a beautiful young lady had just died in his arms.
Anne, who had been bleeding badly despite the tourniquet, which had been holding on to consciousness only to see that Sarah got the help that she needed could now stop worrying.
Now knowing that she was in a better place somehow made her happier rather then sadder that she had died and with a smile on her face she herself slipped into a dark blissful state where the burning in her leg and the heaviness in her heart were no longer there.
