I looked at the stone. It's blue color and white veins made it look magical, and it was. I was sitting on my new bed in my aunt's house, and this room i shared with 2 of my brothers, Asher and Stephen. Asher was but a baby and Stephen was 14. My room had white walls with stripes of blue down the walls, and my bed had a white comforter and blue sheets and a blue pillow. My brother Stephen had a white and green bed and Asher had white and orange crib. I liked my room. I liked the comfort of being with Stephen, and being able to walk over to Asher without disturbing the whole house. I did miss my old house, and my father, but I had to get over it. Stephen probably took most of the pain when father died. He was very close to him. I was getting lost in thought when I heard my mother yell from downstairs: "Time for lunch Hailey! Come one and eat!" I wrapped the stone back up in it's cloth and stuffed it in my pocket. I jumped out of bed and ran to the hall, When I was almost to the stairs I froze. I took a deep breath and slowly walked down to the kitchen and dining room. Ever since father died we had been extra obedient and tried to be as nice to mother as possible, like helping her with daily chores she usually had to do alone. I came down to see mother and the rest of my family sitting at the table. I hugged mother and said "Hi." to my siblings. I sat at my new place and waited for aunt Sarah to start eating. But my family was already eating. "Where's aunt Sarah?" I asked. "Oh she had to run some errands. She told us to start eating." Seth said over a mouth full of hamburger. I shrugged and started eating my veggie burger, I was vegetarian. We all finished with little conversation in about a half an hour. I went back up to my room to feed Asher his milk. When I got to my room Asher was sleeping, I walked over to him and picked him up. His eyes were closed but I woke him up. He didn't cry, he almost never cried, I like that about him, it's like he knows he has to be nice to mother. I lifted the bottle to his mouth and he sucked on the n****e of the bottle. He sucked the milk fast. I guess he was hungry. I sat in my rocking chair and rocked Asher back to sleep. I put him back in his crib after looking at him a while. I walked to the living room where i could be alone to read my book. But before I could even open it I saw Stephen run out the door. I stood quickly and followed. He was running down the street by the time I reached the outside of the house. The afternoon sun was bright, and I had to shade my eyes to see him. He was far ahead of me and I felt the need to use all of that track training I had had over the years. I ran as fast as i could to catch up to him. I finally reached his side and said: "What are you doing?! Where are you going?!" He looked at me and almost mumbled: "You don't need to know, I'll tell you when we get there." He looked back toward the road and ran faster, I ran faster and felt my heart beating like a hummingbird's wings. We ran for what felt like hours, I started walking for a very short time and almost lost Stephen. We reached the park after a very long while. "The park?" I asked. "Why the park?" "There are spirits here, I needed to talk to them about you." He said looking at some trees. "Me?" I gaped at him. "Yes you. Just listen and be quiet when I talk to them okay?" he said almost in a bark. "Fine." I started to examine my feet on the ground. I heard him mumbling under his breath as I stared at the trees he seemed to be speaking to. I struggled to keep my mouth shut. I pulled out the stone and unwrapped it. I heard a high pitched wail coming from all around me, I spun around slowly and looked at everything to see where the noise was coming from. I saw nothing suspicious but saw my brother looking at me in an angry way. I said to him: "What!?" and he said very angrily:"Put away that stone! They don't want to feel it! And no more questions!" I wrapped up the stone and put it roughly back in my pocket. I crossed my arms and went back to looking at my feet, the wailing stopped and my ears relaxed. He relaxed his face and went back to his mumbling. I heard him say something that didn't sound like English, I couldn't make out what language or what he was saying. He turned around and looked at me and said : "Don't scream, please, I have to summon a dragon for you, it's needed, if I can teach you to talk to the spirits you can learn from them." I gaped at him and he just mumbled in that language and I heard the flapping of wings. The I saw a green shape in the sky and it was coming closer, I slapped my hand up to my mouth to keep me from screaming. "A dragon...." I whispered to myself. "And you are going to ride it. All you have to do is connect with the spirits and I will teach you that, just believe in yourself."
