• Bridgette took down her hair from the bun it was in on the top of her head. She continued to gaze out at the lake as she did so. It was dusk. She dreamt of a winter ago, when she was whole, when her life hadn't been tore apart by war. All was happy then.

Her mind drifted. Suddenly she was in the same spot on the edge of the lake. Only she was warm. And she wasn't alone. Adam was with her. She leaned her head on his shoulder. Adam stroked her hair softly, tenderly.

    "Adam....," Bridgette began.

"Yes?" Adam whispered into her ear.

"Promise me something. Promise me you'll never leave me. Promise me I can love you for the rest of forever."

Adam looked back at her. She was looking at him directly in the eyes. He could see tears forming in her eyes. He wiped them away. He then slid his hand to her neck and gently pulled her head to him.

Their lips met. Bridgette could not think of anything; only that he was there, kissing her, and it was all bliss. And then, their tongues met, and they stayed there, completely oblivious to anything other than themselves and each other.

After a while, it ended. But they stayed there, holding onto each other.

"I'll never leave you, my love."
