• January 1st, 1993. On the cold New York streets. The party was over, New Years had past. and brought on a new year. But for others time stood still. "Why, why did they abandon me," came the voice of a little boy, "what’s wrong with me. Is it they don’t want me anymore or some one made them abandon me." As the boy walked he could hear the laughter of families, but in his heart he felt their dislike of each other. As he walked the streets, he herd some people asking him questions like Are you lost, why are wearing such thin clothing you will freeze. But most of them mocked him with names like stupid, retard, and dumbo. But he just continued to walk on.
Then out of nowhere some one called out, “Grab the orphan." Immediately he ran to the park. It didn't take long before a hand grabbed his shoulder from be hind and pulled him to the ground.
"Let me go!" he shouted and wrestled for freedom, "Get off of me!"
"Shut up and relax" a woman’s voice said, "We are here to help you"
"No I don't believe you, so let me go!"
"If you come with me we'll find you a family, trust me."
"No just leave me alone!" Suddenly the woman flew back into a pile of snow dazed and confused, with the boy wondering "What just happened was that me or, a blessing from God." With that he ran off into the snow filled night thinking, then it came to him, "Could that be the reason my parents abandoned me."
As he walked on it grew colder and colder "I need to sleep, but I’m all alone no home, no warm bed, no nothing." He walked on and on until he saw it. An old abandoned house. "Yes it’s perfect." he said out loud. He ran up to the door but it was locked, but he looked up and saw an open window, only it was second floor. "Bummer" he said, "unless I could do that thing again. Here it goes 1, 2, 3. There was a rush and a thump. “Yes I did it" he said hanging on to the windowsill, "now I should be good till morning."
That morning he woke with a start only to remember he was all alone. “I have to get out this town make a new life with a new name,” he said, “but what should I call myself.” After five minuets he decided “My new name is Kyle Stevens.” With his new name he hoped out the window to try to start over.
When his feet touched ground he dashed off as fast as he could. He ran on, and then finally he had reached his destination. When he stopped running he was surprised, the cops had been informed that a dangerous child was on loose and to use any force necessary to bring him in.
“Freeze and put your hands in the air!” an officer yelled.
“No” Kyle said, “you can’t make me do any thing.”
    “Stop right there criminal!”
“Stay away. I don’t want to hurt you.”
“Hurt me, how could a squirt like you hurt me. Ha! In your condition I doubt you could even put a scratch on my helmet….”
Then a burst of light hit the cop knocking him on the ground. “I said don’t make me hurt you.”
“Uh, what are you, you freak!” the cop shouted in surprise.
“Just leave me alone.” Kyle said.
As Kyle turned and left, he heard the cop open the door of his patrol car and speak in to the mic of his radio. With that he left the cop behind in the blink of an eye and disappeared into the noon. When civilization popped up on the corner of the horizon, his paced slowed to a walk. He decided that it was time for him to start his new life. But he came upon a crude surprise.
A blockade was set up to intercept him. He heard two bangs and saw a flash in desperation he fell to the ground only to feel a sharp pain in his leg. He looked and saw a hole in his leg that was bleeding badly. He stood up in an attempt to escape but feel back on the ground in agony yelling with his eyes closed, “Why won’t you leave me alone, what have I done to you!”
He sat there on ground waiting for them to finish him off, but only found silence. He opened his eyes his leg was numb from the cold, but was still gushing blood. Then he looked up tears in his eyes and saw that the blockade had disappeared. He heard a door of an apartment complex open.
A soft voice of a girl say, “What happened?”
Kyle adverted his gaze to the girl. Instantly he recognized her. She was one of his friends who had moved away a year ago. “Hailey, is that you?”
The girl looked at him and shouted “How do you know my name, who are you?”
“It’s me Bryan, we you used to be my best friend, but you moved away.”
    “Is it really you?”
    “Yes, it’s me.”
    “Yay, give me a hug!”
    “I can’t.”
“Why? It’s been so long since we’ve seen each other.”
“It’s my leg you see I got shot.”
“Oh my gosh, lets get you inside and patched up.”
She left went inside and got her dad to carry Kyle inside, where as he was being patched up, carried out there reunion. After some consideration and discussion between Hailey’s parents, Kyle was able to stay with them till he got a good home. Yet they never learned about his power and record with the authorities. There he lived on and finally became part of their family.
