• Everyone loves the holidays

    But not me

I don’t sing carols or buy a tree

People will shoo you away if you sing

And your tree will just die in two weeks

    Hot chocolate is too hot

    And turkeys too dry

And everyone knows that reindeer don’t fly

    Santa is fat

    Stockings are socks

Toys get old way to fast

Somewhere out there two snowflakes look the same

And the homeless who beg for money are not insane

    They are just hungry

    And cold

But you will just walk pass them even if their old

Christmas has changed since back in the day

    Where pie was a treat

And you would be thankful to eat

    Family was your present

And you didn’t wrap them up and stick a bow on their head

You didn’t buy gifts five months in advance

You didn’t see Christmas when it just turned October

You counted down the days with your advent calendar

And you didn’t think it was over when it just turned November

Trees didn’t start selling a month before the holidays

And if you bought them that early

    You were stupid

So if you think Christmas is just getting better

    Think back

    I know you remember

When you wished for the holidays to come

Not for them to be over

Its obvious that Christmas is not about joy

    Its just about presents

    Gifts

    Toys

    Giving Thanks?

    No

    Loving each other?

    No

    Spirit is gone

    The media takes it

    And throws it away

Next thing you know Christmas will really be in July

    But no one will notice

    Except the ones who remember

And they know it will never truly be December
