-“Jordan?” Eva screamed, wondering if her ears decieved her. Jordan’s voice yelled back, “Molly! Are you okay?!” Eva was still falling in the dark pit. She wasn’t sure where Jordan was. “Jordan… You jumped in after me…”
“Of course I did! Anything for a friend!”
Eva felt sad for a moment. Memories of the Great Race flashed back to her. It wasn’t the first time Jordan risked his safety to protect her. He said he loved me…
FLASHBACK
Kanaletto had Eva under his control and made her activate the pyramid in the Temple of Heart. She had tears dripping out her eyes from just learning he controlled her life. Jordan was badly hurt and would not give up. He knew Aikka would try something also, if he had enough strength. Jordan climbed up a broken post and yelled at Kanaletto. The exact words were hard to hear, Eva was still under Kanaletto’s control and was crying at the same time. Kanaletto’s control stopped and Eva looked up. Jordan smiled at her and said, “Molly… I… I love you…” and he jumped inside the pyramid, flooding the room with light, Kanaletto screaming, “NOOOOOOO!!!” in defeat.
END FLASHBACK
“Jordan?” Eva whispered. He didn’t answer. Eva suspected he didn’t hear. What am I thinking?! This is crazy! I can’t… but… I… do… Eva knew it was a bad time, but she felt urgent. It could be the lest time she got. “Jordan?” she said, in a louder voice. Jordan muttered something Eva didn’t understand. She didn’t know Jordan was also having thoughts back to the Great Race. Eva said, “What did you say?”
“Molly, you do remember…”
Both blushed deeply, but the other couldn’t tell because it was so dark. “Jordan, are you thinking of…” They kept cutting off, trying to find the courage to tell each other their thoughts. “Molly… Eva,” Jordan corrected himself. “I think I am.” Eva tried to speak her mind, but this time she couldn’t. “Are we…?” she slowly replied.
“Eva… I…”
It’s so hard to say it… Jordan thought.
Graticus’ ugly face appeared in Eva’s mind just then, laughing like a maniac. Eva screamed at the image. Jordan said, “What’s wrong?!” Eva grabbed the sides of her head and screamed, “Graticus! Get out of my head! Stop hurting me…!” She had a peircing headache and small rips appeared all over her clothing. Graticus’ voice was speaking in her mind. He said, “You can’t hide from me!” Eva screamed at the pain. “Stop it!” Deep scratches ran up her face. She was bleeding. Graticus’ voice said, “This is what you get when you go places you’re not supposed to…” Tears were streaming down Eva’s face. “Stop it!” she begged, hugging herself. She couldn’t hear Jordan calling out to her, asking her if she was alright. He had to do something. Eva felt something grab her. She tried to fight it. “Let go of me! Leave me alone!” Jordan’s voice said, “Eva, it’s me.”
“Jordan?” Eva stopped resisting. Graticus was gone, but the pain remained all over Eva’s body. “It hurts so bad…”
“What did he do to you?”
“He hurt me…”
“I have you now… I won’t let him hurt you anymore.”
Eva was still crying. “What do I do to make it stop?”
“Eva… I know it’s a bad time but… What happens when we hit the ground?”
Eva didn’t have an answer.
