Chapter 2- The Long Journey
“Your planet… It’s beautiful,” said Price Aikka slowly. Eva felt it was so weird to be flying through space like that. It seemed G’dar had some kind of shield around him that kept oxygen in. Eva asked, “Is it anything like your kingdom?” He thought a moment, and then said, “Not much. I doubt you’d be able to name anything you see. Same with me on Earth.” Aikka pronounced Earth like “Eerth”. Eva laughed and said, “It’s Erth. That’s how you say it.”
“Oh. Earth…” He pronounced it correctly. Eva asked, “How long is it going to be before we get to this place?” Aikka answered, “Not too much longer. I’m actually going quite slowly, to watch out for danger. I can go faster.” He sped G’dar up a little. They flew through the endless darkness in space for a while. Breaking the long silence, Aikka said, “We’re close now. The planet is a little hard to see from here, but if you look closely you can see a small green dot. Eva squinted her eyes to see. “I can’t see it.” Aikka said, “It’ll become bigger as we get closer. It’s really a big planet.” Eva smiled slyly. “How do you know all this?” Aikka laughed. “I was informed all about it before I came to get you.” Eva thought about Don Wei. She wondered how worried he was. Shrugging to herself, she was reminded of the Great Race. All the dangers, tragedies, the thrills… Oban was the most amazing place Eva had ever seen. Thinking about that, she wondered what the other places looked like. How different they all were from Earth. The universe is an amazing place… Eva stared far off to the right. At first, she saw nothing but stars, then the stars became small figures, then color was added. Small planets of reddish-orange, blue-green, violet… Aikka broke her thoughts to say, “Look, Molly! You can see the planet from here.” Eva looked in front of her. The blue, green, and purple swirls of the planet’s texture were in almost perfect view. “It’s beautiful…” she whispered. Aikka made G’dar speed up again. Eva noticed something strange ahead. It looked like a silver star, growing bigger with each passing second. “Aikka, I see something up ahead…” Prince Aikka looked ahead. “I don’t see anything.” Eva pointed to the star. “Now do you see it?”
“What is that?”
“Maybe you should slow G’dar down… I’m getting a bad feeling about that star…”
Aikka nodded and slowed down G’dar. Eva nervously watched the star. “Is it me, or is it coming closer?” Her voice shook. Aikka shouted, “Hold on, Molly!” and made G’dar go very fast. Eva shouted, “It’s coming faster! It’s catching up to us!” The star was directly behind them. A hand reached towards Eva. “What the…?” It grabbed onto the wrist of Eva’s right hand and attempted to pull her off G’dar. “Hey! What’s the big deal?!” Eva tried to kick whatever was inside the star. “Molly, stop!” said a very familiar voice. Eva exclaimed, “Jordan?!”
