“Molly… It’s so good to see you again!” The light around Jordan faded. He was in his normal body, unlike when he first became Avatar. He was just floating in space. Eva curiously looked to see if there was anything he could be standing on. Jordan noticed her looking. He said, “It’s one of the many powers of the Avatar.” Eva said, “I thought you were supposed to stay in Oban.”
“The Avatar controls the universe. Wherever danger attacks, I must be there. Unfortunately… not even my powers are enough to get rid of this guy. He seeks you.”
Eva sighed. “Great. It’s always me they want… I wonder if he controls my life like Kanaletto did. Yeah… that could explain how Sul got in the way…”
Jordan looked down and blushed, thinking for something to say. “Molly, how’s life back on Earth?”
Molly thought for an answer. “Well, between school and Don Wei, I’m bugged a lot. Don Wei’s main concern is my safety… Quite a change from the Don Wei we knew in Oban!” They both laughed. Eva then asked, “What’s it like being Avatar?”
“Well, it’s hard… Actually lonely…”
They were silent. Aikka said, “I didn’t think being Avatar would be like that. I should have known…” Jordan said, “Prince Aikka, for now, we must form an alliance. We’ll have to get along… at least for a little while.”
“Truce.”
Eva laughed. “I can’t believe you two would still act like that against each other! I guess some things never change…” Jordan said, after a hesitation from all three of them, “Soretto approaches!” Eva and Aikka said, “Huh?”
“Oh, that’s the name of the planet Graticus has taken over. Don’t worry; I haven’t been to this part yet, either. I haven’t gone very far from Oban since I became Avatar.”
Eva slowly said, “I really didn’t plan to see any part of the universe away from Earth! …I’m really glad we’re all back together again… Even for just a little while…” Jordan said, “Hold up, Molly! We don’t know how long we’ll have to stay on this planet. And, as soon as I am slowed to, I can come stay on Earth for a while!” Aikka interrupted their conversation to say, “We don’t know what Graticus will want from Molly. Hopefully, the encounter with Kanaletto won’t repeat itself with Graticus. Jordan, we still must protect Molly under all circumstances. She could be in great danger, and so could we, even as soon as we set foot on Soretto.” Jordan nodded in agreement. Eva muttered, “Maybe we can just get this over painlessly, without shedding blood or tears.”
